One of my favourite things about the world this dev has created is that it's a completely normal thing for your coworkers to be a fairy and a shadow man. It's all so wild and absurd, but it's played off so normal. It's honestly really impressive how good the quality of these are. The first moment the thicc af bunny lady walked onscreen in Man in the Window it took me by surprise, but now it's just like "oh hell yeah, another game in the thicc universe. I think it's important to note that Nameless' design is based on Hathor! Hathor played many roles in Egyptian mythology, with one role being to guide souls to the afterlife. She was also depicted as a loving, calm maternal figure as well! The game dev really played their cards right by making Nameless Hathor, because it sort of explains why she's so eager to help the humans out as well. Also interesting is the fact that Sekhmet is actually an incarnation of Hathor, so the fact that Hathor is helping the player and the other characters, and is against her own self is rather cool to me.
@JoeNoobie2 жыл бұрын
I don't think that is hathor. the description of hathor's headdress: "Hathor was pictured as a woman with cow's horns with the sun between them, or as a cow wearing thesun disk between her horns. The horns are her horns, as she was thought to be a bovine goddess, but the solar disk that sits between the horns is her aspect of a solar goddess." There is nothing in the description about the wings on the side, or the animal head in the center. I think the goddess is more likely to be Isis. who is depicted to wear a headress similar to Hathor, (in fact THE headress of hathor) but combined with the vulture headdress of mut, (which is what the animal head and wings looks like), albeit lacking the double crown of upper and lower egypt that mut's headress is combined with.
@X_Tsukasa_X2 жыл бұрын
Wait, Sekhmet isn't opposite incarnation of Bastet, goddes of love and happines?
@aNgEl-oz1kv2 жыл бұрын
@@JoeNoobie oo well, fair enough! i just assumed it could be hathor because i didn't actually realize those were wings. besides, she also mentioned how ra was annoying, i assumed it could be hathor, as hathor shares a closer relationship with ra than isis did. also, hathor's crown does usually have an animal head on it, usually a cobra head if my memory serves me right. I'm really not too sure who nameless actually is tho lol, but thanks for the info! maybe the dev left her as nameless for a reason haha
@aNgEl-oz1kv2 жыл бұрын
@@X_Tsukasa_X sekhmet is the opposite of bastet yes (and according to some myth they are sisters), but sekhmet is basically a version of hathor. according to myth, ra felt as though humans were conspiring against him, and they were not worshipping him enough, so he sent hathor in the form of sekhmet (who was super violent and bloodthirsty) to destroy humanity. tldr, sekhmet is hathor, but sekhmet is also the sister/opposite of bastet

I know you're focused on the fact there's suddenly fae, but I'm honestly interested in the part where they're all still referred to under the general banner of "humanity". Normally even in old fairy tales the furries, Fae, and other monsters are considered different from humans, but here, they're all under the same banner. Like they're defining humanity not as a species, but a state of being. Surprisingly sci-fi concept for a world steeped in post-'08 recession vibes. I like it. Say what you will about the gameplay or the designs, it's undeniable these games are at least conceptually interesting.

I love the way the dev ties together this expanded universe. Gracie has a mug from Bartleby's Bakery which is where the mom worked in The Man From the Window, and we get a direct cameo of Morton from Vermander Curse. The Midnight Maids were hired to clean the diner from Beware the Shadowcatcher before they got cancelled on and had to empty out JP Vermander's freshly sold house. Also at one point during this game I think Faye mentions how it gets weird in this town at night (EDIT: I found the dialogue it's at 10:29) which we know is the same town that the Vermanders owned a lot of property in based on dialog by Dr. Eda in the Vermander curse. Which means the Diner's massive bills and debts might've actually been to JP Vermander since the start of Midnight Maid-Night tells us that Maude's Diner is in the same place. Gracie gets a call from Morton from The Vermander Curse, she drinks from a Bartleby's Bakery mug - the place where the mother rabbit works in The Man From The Window, Mike being a shadow person from Beware The Shadowcatcher. The stories revolve around working-class people in a remote rural town who's problems are caused by the supernatural, and/or the higher class (Vermander with his vast fortune, these gods wanting to kill people undeserving of their anger, a lot of bad endings or problems seen in-game are caused by the poverty these characters experience, ect). I mean there are also ghosts and shadow people, not to mention demons, so there being fairies isn't surprising. The creator definately has certain gameplay he likes to fall back on that you'd think would get boring but I always end up enjoying the games and videoes! Also for anyone interested pretty sure Nameless is Isis due to the head dress and human .

I have no idea how this guy keeps putting out so many games so fast and managing to make them all unique and self-sufficient, it's baffling speed and skill. Also these games never feel horrifying to me, they're just kinda their own vibe. There are, however, a handful of very startling moments throughout the series that reminded me they are horror games. I can not explain to you the visceral horror that shot through my entire body the moment "behind you" followed by an anthropomorphic cat smiling at the screen appeared. For some reason that tonal shift gave me whiplash. And she didn't even appear right behind Manly or scream at the screen or anything, just caught me really off guard. I haven't gotten a good spook like that in a while, I would definitely not have expected it to be in one of these games lol

This game by this creator makes me feel like that Kronk meme, "Oh yeah, it's all coming together now." He's created this weird, cute, funny world that is really fun to see unfold. I love that there's always one that sassy and bold character that don't take no nonsense. The games make you feel uneasy (as good horror does), but also having a lightheartedness that makes me chuckle. I look forward to the dialogue between the characters, it's written well. The specific verbiage I think is what gets me. And of course, Manly just makes watching the gameplay that much better. 💜

You know after watching the playlist you made about this person's works. I can't help but think and liken the games to Regular Show. With how interconnected events and happenings are to one another in someway, shape, or form haha

_Ankh me later_ I really loved the princess' art. Another game with great characters and cute humor. It might have been more simple in game play, but I enjoyed the back story of the characters and that the endings reflected the affection for Faye and the development of camaraderie between Faye, Gracie, Mike, and Nameless. So it was nice getting that throwback to Vermander's Curse, makes the world feel connected. But what really linked it was that Gracie had a mug for the bakery that the mother from MftW worked at. Mike was also a nice pull. The final moments towards the best ending are also pretty cool.

Honestly what I love out of all of these is the good/true endings! Like hell yeah, everyone lives a good life gossiping and paling around, probably having to stop the gods every once in awhile, but you got friends with you to get through it all! Also the fact it said FIVE of them, means they include the jackal warrior constantly so he's not just a weapon to use and that warms me even more

i am INSANELY glad the man from the window popped off so hard, all these bangers keep coming out and now its fucking hilarious seeing the chaos these people go through, like the cleaning job. them just going to help a person pack that they proceed to find out WAS A GHOST THAT WAS ALSO BEING HAUNTED BY HIS GIRLFRIEND HIS DAD GOT KILLED WHO THEN PROCEEDED TO TURN INTO MAGICAL FAIRY LIGHTS AND ASCEND TO WHEREVER THE FUCK. then because the dad was pos he burned alive because his ex-butler finally made it back and just sorta quit. the one that's actually the most understandable in a horror scenario because every other one has really weird (in a great way) intro, is the first one/the man in the window. a child comes home and while waiting for his mother discovers a book that looked like stuff he would read and a sorta picture book and he read it then got scared and told his mother who was understandably concerned. then everything happens and it's over. it's a great premise and more games could do with such a standard type of thing, but it was just done so well by this creator! I genuinely can't wait for his uploads because the games have a perfect blend of chaos, realism, humor and character depth. like how Morton is a father just wanting to keep his daughter safe and let her live a good life and Eda is just a doctor who wants to help others the best she can no matter what, and Vermander at first was just a pos who was greedier than all hell but after seeing the truth of his actions and what he could have hurt he changed and decided to help others as well to make up for his past sins, and the chef lady and her friend in Beware the shadowcatcher are also incredibly good characters, Maude feels like an elderly woman who is somewhat a motherish figure and wants to keep her dream of the diner alive for as well as support her friend who supports her, and her friend wants to keep her friend alive and not lose the diner but also doesn't want to lose her best friend, and as such is wary of potential things Maude wasn't afraid of and in the bad ends was correct, but in the good one ended up being able to help her friend and keep her dream alive along with helping others find a good place to eat and feel safe even though they were different and completely turned a dude who was LITERALLY hunting down the current patrons of the diner because they decided to go on a vacation into a pretty decent person who serves others food. also, the creator just does the good endings are like the really feel good endings you would never expect and that is something horror games don't like doing usually and it's an amazing change of pace because I finally see the characters I like getting to live and continue doing what they may love, no secret "oh THIS was the bad guy all along and they are all going to die!" or "MWAHAHAH you are all doomed because you refused to help this person" when helping that person would kill everyone anyway. the endings in these usually feature good things, like the man from the window they just get to live happily ever after and continue being a family, in Vermander he changes for the better and the hospital gets more help along with helping those in need with a job and continuing to help the sick get better. then in the one where you play the maids/cleaning service? (Still a little unsure) you take everything out and the son finally stands up to his asshole dad and he gets the love of his life back and finally moves on. then right as its about to get ugly the fathers ex butler dude appears and sends the dickweed to hell or something and moves on himself, essentially ending this cycle of pain the ghosts went through hunting people and suffering alone, the people also got paid I believe lol so good money. all I'm saying is the creator of these games has TALENT. I love his works because he does stuff a lot of major companies and big brands try to do but end up failing and just throwing weird amalgams of personalities that never mesh and leaving the gameplay as the main focus. instead, the creator meshes the people amazingly and shares enough about them to feel like they could be real people and you understand what is going on with them. (Also, you're doing all the endings makes things easier to realize so thank manly you are a king, and I will forever love you for this thank you
