Hey Mike! I’m planing on getting my first tattoo soon, half sleeve. Can you do a video on Saniderm? I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. From other channels and from people I know who have used it on their tattoos. But a lot of it contradicts traditional healing and aftercare process. Also their website states that it is “Safe to swim” while having a tattoo covered with Saniderm. They claim 100% water proof 🤔

You are on the safer more privileged side of the tattoo world, so I don't think you would know about this... Please encourage people to quit getting white women/women in Native War Bonnets. It's really disrespectful to our culture, and it can get the person cut up or killed. People are fed up and will stab or brand the person with the offensive tattoo. Most recently people have been getting cut deep on the face for appropriating our culture.

Very informative video! I just wanted to add that everyone has different methods to heal their tattoos. Just got my new tattoo yesterday. My artist uses something called a second skin. It helps the tattoo breathe, and you can drain it of all the plasma, blood extra, so you don't have to apply cling film again. Bonus, you can take a shower without panicking about your fresh ink!

The idea behind washing the tattoo thoroughly with water as hot as you can stand it (for the first ~3 days) is to loosen up any dried lymph and coagulated blood off the tattoo so it is gently washed off as opposed to being ripped off from the skin. Sometimes lukewarm water won’t be enough for the more hardened/stubborn ones. Leaving some of them on the tattoo usually will lead to scabbing which leads to a busted tattoo when healed. I also used cold water to close up the pores after every wash and my tattoo healed up great. That being said, everyone heals differently and the most qualified person to give aftercare advice is the artist. Great video man, looking forward to seeing more tattoo projects from you!

I don't apply too much aftercare cream but I do combat 'the itch' in the peeling phase by keeping unfragranced baby wipes in the fridge. When the itch occurs I gently dab the cold wipe against it and the moisture and coolness help alleviate the itch. I do 'dry heal' arm/upper body but do re-wrap calf tattoos when walking the dog through woods etc. What are your views on second skins like saniderm, where they recommend you keep them on for a few days? I’ve used it for my last nine tattoos absolutely no issues tattoo artist applies it in the shop right after it’s done I take it off anywhere between five and seven days later very limited peeling in the itching is not quite as bad I have had absolutely no issues that being said my daughter on her first tattoo the adhesive on the second skin irritated her a little bit I would suggest just slapping a piece on a few days before your tattoo and see if you have a reaction to the adhesive… Love the stuff that being said a full back piece really large he would use quite a bit of it it is a little bit expensive… But for the first 5 to 7 days you don’t have to wash it multiple times a day and you don’t have to put ointment on it

Tattoo artist here. You run a real risk of bacteria getting trapped under there if you don't wash it well enough. We use alcohol or other things to make sure it's clean after we are done and apply saniderm. Antibacterial soap, uncented, if you're gonna do this.

I was told to never put ointment on the art, and to only use mild soap to combat itching 🤷♂️

What is your take on using saniderm for the healing process of the tattoo?
@EvolveINK2 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I am not a fan of saniderm. For multiple reasons
@B-whizz2 жыл бұрын
@@EvolveINK what would those reasons be for not using saniderm?
@durtydeedsREI Жыл бұрын
Been enjoying your videos, used your aftercare advice for my last tattoo. Got a couple new ones and the shop used saniderm right away and said to leave it on 3-5 days. I want to go with the advice from my artist but I'm worried about leaving it on since the beginning. Do you think a good compromise is to leave it on for 3 days (the minimum amount they said) and then just let it breathe after that?

Is there a reason why you shouldn't wash off the peeling skin? The inks supposed to sit below that layer of skin. Not actually right on the surface. So doesn't seem like it would do anything. You lose skin everyday 🤷
@EvolveINK2 жыл бұрын
So when you’re washing off the peels, you’re disturbing the skin trying to repair while at the same time extracting ink out. Those 2 things will cause a tattoo to look spotted and dull
@FinalFlameXD2 жыл бұрын
@@EvolveINK but you're supposed to keep the tattoo clean. How do you clean it without the peels coming off?
@trckn_1512 жыл бұрын
@@FinalFlameXD there is a difference between washing and having pieces fall off on their own and washing to remove the pieces that are peeling. You don't want to rub or scrub the area, just a light massage with your finger tips using soap, rinse it off and pat dry. What falls off falls off during the process, you're not forcing it off if that makes sense.
@FinalFlameXD2 жыл бұрын
@@trckn_151 yes that makes sense 😊 I was just curious. Because I have been washing off the peeling of my first tattoo. But I've never forced it off. Just gently rubbed with soap. Didn't seem to be damaging anything since it was already coming off
@trckn_1512 жыл бұрын
@@FinalFlameXD as long as it's coming off naturally, as in you're not forcing it off, you're good.

There’s some things saniderm is really bad at. Some people get really bad allergic reactions
@KaidenOrgana2 жыл бұрын
@@EvolveINK I am aware of adhesive allergies and to be fair that particular issue is not limited to Saniderm, nor is it caused by the Saniderm itself. Please do be 100% transparent when you make your point/s. Also there are other products similar to Saniderm which may work without the adhesive creating issues.
