I think advertisement is prohibited keeping in mind not just the repo of this profession but also for the people who are into this profession. Like if all the clients will go to famous lawyer then how a new comer or to this professional or a lawyer with limited resources will get any cases and how they will gain experience. Now you can say that they can get experience while their training period but then the issue is again that all the trainees can not get trained by the top lawyers. So to allow equal opportunity amongst all, this provision has been made i think for the survival of all and not just few. The same is with Chartered Accountants Act, 1949.

In GST Act the services provided by a senior advocate firm attracts gst on reverse charge basis..So once this is considered as business activity then Advocate should also be provided the right to advertise..This is my humble opinion.
