JAFAA: Firstly, Zara is not a doctor but a wife in this relation hence we mustn’t expect her to be the therapist here... secondly, the fact she was kept unaware of Hasan’s condition is another reason why she shouldn’t have taken all this drama so lightly and let it go in the name of realisation or understanding or perhaps love whatever... her protest to the sick behaviour is very much needed and fair because why does she get to pay for his childhood traumas or anger issues... had she been informed earlier and still decided to get married would have been a totally different ball game altogether...Kudos to Mohib’s acting but Zara’s split in the morning was disturbing, she needs her fair time to heal and deal I believe!

Jafaa. Although I am enjoying the show but I feel both Andaleeb and Zara track are problematic. In Andaleeb track they are going to show that her parents forcing her to marry nomair was justified and correct In Zahra track they are showing that hiding Hassan condition was justified. And his crazy behavior is accepted due to his childhood trauma. Zahra should be more scared and concerned at this point. Plus it's not her job to fix her husband

In Islam its actually not preferred that women change their surname after marriage case in point Hazrat Fatima who is always introduced as Fatima bint Muhammad. Actually its a Christian/western practice and not part of our religion or culture.

Dear All. In comment section some are saying Iddat is 4 months 10 days. That time period is when husband dies ow after divorce it is 3 womans cycles. Details of all kinds of Iddat periods: 1. Divorce: - 3 menstrual cycles (approx. 3 months) for women who menstruate. - 3 months for women who don't menstruate due to age or illness. - Pregnant women: until childbirth. 2. Husband's death: - 4 months and 10 days (approximately 130 days)

I find Jafaa problematic. Zara is not supposed to be Hassan's therapist. In the next promo she says to the Dadi, "I will take care of him so much that he forgets all his childhood traumas". Seriously? That is not how trauma works I don't know what they're trying to show here. Hassan needs to go to proper therapy and the drama makers should promote that message, not that his wife will come and magically 'heal' him. 55:05 yes I also noticed that evil expression. The Dadi is definitely hiding something and not telling the full the story.

Couldn’t agree more. I am married to a person who has childhood traumas and I didn’t know until 2 years ago. Ever since I got married, I have been struggling to understand his behaviours. We have had a a very problematic relationship. We are still together after 4 kids but I wish I knew earlier and had the courage to leave. We as wives, are not supposed to fix our husbands. Parents should not get their sins married and get them help that they need. Unfortunately, in our society our parents think shadi is the ultimate solution to any problem and shadi k bad sab thek hojaey ga 😔.

Hassan & Aamna, I'm SO disappointed of the fact that how can you call Jafaa a solid watch despite indisputably solid performaces & the writer's vision behind talking openly about childhood traumas affecting adult relationships, because when Dr. Zara says nonsensical dialogues like, "Daadi sey baat hui aur mujhey pata chala k mujhey tum sey pyar hogya jaisay Juliet ko Romeo sey hua tha..." I mean, woman, you are an experienced gynecologist, and you're willing to take up your partner as a project by being a therapist --- What? How? Why? Why don't y'all call out the dadi to have hidden such profound details of a supposedly educated guy from such a solid woman who was about to marry him for life? She gets traumatized the whole night (and this is not even having for the first time), and the grandma is guilt tripping into not leaving her grandson without giving him a closure... Without the grandma sahiba with the bobby pins realizing how seamlessly she ruined a beautiful, educated girl's life by hiding pertinent facts from her of her traumatized; disturbed grandson? Dr. Numair would also, and is already ready to be a therapist --- & the whole idealism & romance is about successful doctors taking up their partners as projects? Are they able to successfully normalize/and or justify it because Dr. Zara & Dr. Numair are doctors respectively so everytime we'd want to question their rights, they'd say, "We are doctors toh yeh toh humara farz tha logic" lol And Aamna what absolutely baffles me is as to why you're drawing this unreasonable distinction between toxic & problematic people? Hassan's character is toxic 101 & no woman even not an inch as educated or as a package like Dr. Zara's character deserves that. I really appreciate y'all repeatedly calling out Andaleeb's mother's enabler behavior towards her --- abandoning her & make her daughter doubt her sense of self, let alone self-worth... But PLEASE refrain to glorify and or joke upon Dr. Numair eventually falling for Andaleeb, when earlier, he was running away from marriage like a busy bee, and now he's over-extending himself to a girl he low-key liked since forever but agreed to marry, only because his mother gave him a chocolate smoothie shake to remind him of their childhood nostalgia lol And even if Andaleeb rightfully moves on with a guy who is willing to parent him, using his medical background, in Dr. Zara's case, it's beyond dangerous on how this drama is putting women putting up with unhealed men on a pedestal. When Hassan, and his grandma knew that he had traumas, why did he not go to the therapists before? Why did he need a woman to give him this enlightenment -- & fill/fix his mother's void? And I'm NOWHERE saying that partners can't/shouldn't be emotionally available for each other or mustn't have each others' backs' --- I mean, why does one even need a union/marriage to begin with? However, partners are NOT projects PERIOD.

yes .. but she said if it were not to be a pakistani drama, there could be some skin showing, etc, and it could be used as some spark inducing scene .. because I also thought the same way while watching .. even though it was clear that he was in awe that the girly knew how to work a water pump .. which is also very cool .. somehow, that's also added as her charming point to him .. Drama mein to abdullah ko bilkul pure dikhaya hai to obviously him being attracted to a woman (in 'that' way) that too someone else's wife won't be justified .. it's just how a viewer can view it.

Man Jogi: So glad Hasan and Amna discussed the scene where Aliya is repairing the motor and later making chai. Aliya's POV is that she is completely unbothered by Ibrahim's presence (it is apparent in her dupatta as she did not care to sit in a proper manner when he arrived). She only saw Ibrahim as a servant subordinate of the house. While Ibrahim looked subtly impressed by her and very much aware of her even to a point of slight discomfort. Now I am really interested in knowing what kind of dynamic did Ibrahim and Aliya have before their marriage. Was Ibrahim already attracted to her? Eager to see how the writer would play this out.

Jaafa: I'm actually very disappointed with Jaafa, i really had high expectations. But sorry to say, Zara continuing to stay with Hassan is NOT AT ALL a wise thing to do. If they wanted to show Zara as a big-hearted person trying to help, they could have shown her trying to help him out even after separating from him. Or atleast they could have shown a temporaray separation and then returning with some help. Because it so evident now that Hassan is no ordinary case. No woman, no matter how qualified she is, should be with someone who is a threat to her physically. If i was in her place i would have carried a pepper spray in my own house and taken up Kung fu Classes. I think you guys are just being biased because Jaafa high views and audience back up. Show it to the western critics and im sure they will slam Jaafa and someone as educated as Dr.Zara to stay with a lunatic.

I think they praise Jafa because they know some of the actors personally (Hassan used to be Mawra's agent). They also really like Seher. I think its just personal biases that make them 'unsee' the issues with Jafaa. I totally agree with you. I said the same that it would have made more sense for Zara to leave Hassan and later agree to continue the relationship on certain conditions like 'him getting professional treatment and getting better'. Honestly! It was so scary the way he drags her and locks her up. I would have smashed the window with the lamp and escaped during the night ..instead we see Zara peacefully falling asleep...who can sleep with a psycho across the door. :)

Zara is a very frustrating character. We've been told that she's an intelligent, educated gynecologist who knows how to stand up for her rights. However, she has consistently done some very naive things throughout the show. 1. Didn't take a stand for Andleeb as she was forced into marriage against her will. 2. Did not tell Numair (her best friend, mind you) that his wife-to-be is being forced by her parents to marry him. 3. Failed to recognise that she was being manipulated by Dadi into staying. Dadi kept saying that she understood and supported Zara's decision to leave, but very conveniently chose that exact time to reveal Hassan's traumatic past to her. The first thing she should've questioned was why Dadi chose to marry her grandson off, knowing that he was mentally unstable. 4. Chose to forgive Hassan despite the fact that he constantly lost his temper with her, broke her phone, put restrictions on who she could meet, 'accidentally' hit her, followed her and LOCKED HER IN A ROOM FOR AN ENTIRE NIGHT. This 'I can fix him' attitude wasn't something I expected from her. A sad, tragic backstory does not mean that she has to forgive him for his anger management issues. It's not her responsibility to be his emotional support doll. And her giving him all the love and care in the world won't make his abusive and controlling habits go away. THERAPY WILL. 6. Let alone simply forgiving him, she promised to stay by his side FOREVER. What good do you get out of chaining yourself to someone with obvious mental problems? What if a situation arises due to which she needs to inevitably leave? Hassan will have a meltdown and it won't be pretty. On the other hand, Andleeb's track isn't enjoyable outside of her scenes with Numair. It's boiling down to a typical saas-bahu melodrama. And don't get me started on the parents. Numair's mother should be blaming the parents, NOT the girl who was forced to marry a stranger. And you know what? She should also blame herself for rushing into the marriage and deliberately ignoring warning signs from Andleeb's side. After all, Andleeb was her choice - not her son's, who was coerced into accepting her. Andleeb's parents don't give me the impression that they truly care about her happiness. If you loved your daughter, you wouldn't have gone against her wishes in the first place. You wouldn't have made her marry the first adequate suitor you found. You wouldn't have turned her out of your house and told her to go back to a place where you know she would be ostracized and unhappy. A DIVORCED DAUGHTER IS BETTER THAN A DEAD OR UNHAPPY DAUGHTER. I'm almost dissatisfied with the fact that Numair turns out to be a good guy because this essentially redeems the poor decisions taken by Andleeb's parents. They gambled her fate just to save their honor. Nothing can change that. I'm sorry for the long rant, but Jafaa genuinely seemed promising at the beginning. Now, it sets dangerous precedents and is a painful watch, owing to all the toxicity. I was quite surprised and disappointed when I saw the title because I expected you guys to critique the direction it had taken more harshly.

This needs to be in top comments. Zara's reason for staying after hearing Hassan's backstory could have been elaborated better. She should have pointed it out to Hassan " dude you need to trust me.. our relationship cannot work if you keep doubting me and thinking that I will take your mother's route.. mutual trust is important." Also she should have taken a promise from him that he will go for therapy to heal himself from childhood trauma, and then she can promise to stand with him in difficult situations until he heals completely.

Mann Jogi: My only complaint for this drama is, which is common for all Kashif Nisar’s dramas, the sound mixing; it sometimes becomes difficult to listen what the actors are saying and have to rewind. I like the Standup Girl couple but the bhabhi being negative here was unwarranted. However, Asma Abbas was brilliant in this episode as the broken mother and interesting thing is how she covered this up in front of Aliya’s friend by keeping her captive and how there is regression in the family which lead to this point which could also reflect Shabeer’s upbringing. Bilal looking at Aliya for validation or the next command was adorable and how he hesitated momentarily when giving her a hand. Brilliant storytelling and direction.

#somethinghaute I finished my schooling in Karachi, where we had the same boring routine every day with the same subjects like Urdu, English, Math, etc. My kids, born and raised in the USA, attend school for 8 hours and have so much to do, like music, arts, sports, library time, and more. They even have a one-hour lunch break. They have so much fun that they actually want to go to school and enjoy it at the same time. Here, kids also get the chance to explore their skills at a high level and take advantage of opportunities to compete, such as in robotics, which is a major part of their education.

Ditto. I am involved in the public education system in the US for the past 25+ years. The key difference is the way teachers create a bond with their students. The teacher - student relationship is one based on mutual respect, joy of learning, routine and discipline compared to teacher -student relationship based on fear and dictatorial control.

I had my education also in Lahore and was involved in teaching for quite some years. Now my kids are being educated in Germany. There is a huge difference in the system of education here as compared to Pakistan. There its all about learning by rot and grading. Here the schools are from 8 to 4 pm. The teaching system is more research and practical approach interspersed with sports, drama, music, technical, clubs. Also kids do during the school year short internships in different fields of work to get hands on knowledge. That helps them decide what to study later at university level.

All well written characters, performed brilliantly.

Mann Jogi: I think this arrangement of marrying another man, and divorcing him to re marry your ex husband rather shocking, simply because divorces are not meant to be pronounced so lightly ( in anger),for a start, but this arrangement is awful, and I don’t understand this concept either!I just see potential problems for women in this situation, eg if the man she marries refuses to divorce her, or if the ex husband claims she ran away with the other man, and living in ‘sin’, and lie about the second Nikkah, surely the woman will yet again be victimised and pilloried? I’ve heard of temporary ‘marriages’ happening in Iran from watching an exposé documentary of this practice! Is this a common practice in Pakistan too? I’m glad the drama is bringing this to our attention !
@noorulain87
@noorulain87 29 күн бұрын
@@gerryburntwood9617the marriage arrangement as they have shown in the drama is not lawful in Islam. A divorced woman should never remarry with the intention to get back to the first husband. That is wrong which is why Ibrahim is shown in extreme guilt. His monologue in the first episode where he is literally crying and saying he has committed a huge sin is because this practice is against shariah. Since the storyline is non-linear, we are yet to discover why they all agreed to this arrangement. And also, as far as I know, this is not a common practice in Pakistan (I could be wrong though).

@@noorulain87 thank you for enlightening me on this! I rewatched that scene with Bilal, and could now appreciate why such a pious man was ridden with guilt and why I think Sabeena’s character tried to commit suicide, on the night of the Nikkah! This drama thus is a great social issue commentary and I’m looking forward to watching the rest of the drama to see how they handle it!🌹

Bilal Abbas is a brilliant actor of this era. He’s one of the few who has the guts to take on such a low-key character after portraying a heroic role in Ishq Murshid that garnered a billion views. I’m in awe of his performance-hats off to him. He has raised the bar for good actors in the industry at this moment. Current leading actors need to step out of their heroic roles and take on more authentic characters like him. Brilliance, brilliance, brilliance!

Exactly, thanks for this. Sunnah and Hadith tell us we will be called by our father’s names. al-Bukhaari included a chapter entitled “Chapter: The people will be called by their father’s names, in which he quoted hadeeth no. 6177 from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “A banner will be raised for the betrayer on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said: This is the betrayer of So and so the son of So and so.” This hadeeth was also narrated by Muslim (1735). That which was narrated saying that people will be called by their mothers’ names is da’eef (weak). Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Tuhfat al-Mawdood bi Ahkaam al-Mawlood (p. 147):

She should live alone as an independent and working woman, away from her toxic parents who stole her childhood love and forced her to attempt su1c1de. Furthermore, Zara should divorce Hassan and continue her job. Women don't need men and we're not responsible for putting up with abuse. Times have changed. Andaleeb is a legal adult at 18+ and her parents can't force her to do anything. If this was the west they'd already be in jail- children Andaleeb's age work and pay fees on their own or live out and get a loan.
