How to Install a New Queen

There are many reasons why you might need to requeen your hive. Requeening is the process of introducing a new queen to a queenless hive. Placing the new queen bee safely within her new home is essential. 🐝

Do we need to remove the attendant bees first?

Attendant bees should be left in with the queen when installing in the hive.

How long are u supposed to "check for exceptance"? 5 min. or so?

The time it takes will depend on the inspection process. If you see evidence of eggs on the first frame, it will be much faster than if you have to pull a few frames.

Can you put a queen in a hive with no bees and that will attract bees?

Unfortunately, that will not work to attract bees. You can try a swarm lure to attract a swarm.
