Ok. Being an Alaskan, all I have to say is. 1. Only the few major cities have Police Departments. 99% of the state is handled by the Alaska State Troopers. Bear Creek, is not a large enough town. 2. Florida man in a winter coat is.... accurate. 3. Moose is both plural and singular. 4. Moose Knuckle? clever. I want to say I LOVE your content, and am exceptionally pleased I stumbled upon your channel years ago. If y'all ever want to visit Alaska, Hit me up. I live outside Homer Alaska.

I think they basically used Seward but Bear Creek sounds way more Alaska-y lol. Seward's got a jail (and the bigger prison) and the Safeway is pretty close to the cruise dock (and it's right by Bear Creek).

As a Born, Raised and currently sitting at work Alaskan. Pretty accurate, especially the driving. And more especially the Dire Moose... I miss Grandma... Calvin and Brittany, though sounding like Californians, definitely embody the "Help someone because one day its you" Alaskan attitude. My Englishman friend just calls us "Cold Australia"

Moose usually don't attack people unless they've been harassed recently. Australia is full of venomous things, Alaska has only one rare spider to worry about no snakes at all, if something kills you here it will probably be large...and/or drunk.

Also, if it was any other state I'd be real suspicious of the couple that helped Lance, but in Alaska if you see some guy surrounded my Moose without a coat in sub zero weather, you offer him help, no questions. It's just how people are around here. There are examples of in Krakhaere's Into the Wild. Most Alaskans figure the guy you pull out of the ditch today, might be the guy helping you tomorrow.

I love that you gave disadvantage to all the survival checks while in Alaska. Most people don't realize that seemingly innocuous things that everyone in the Lower 48 take for granted will kill you in Alaska. People have literally died from mosquitos draining their body of blood, just as example. It's also why Alaskans are typically easy to spot when we travel; we live in survival mode and it is absolutely 💯 normal to stop for someone who looks like they need help, even if they're not flagging you down. In addition where most of the Lower 48 has raccoon problems, we have bear problems... for the same reasons. I know a guy from the village that survived a brown bear attack by stabbing it 37 times with a Swiss Army knife and crawled for miles back to help. They tracked down the bear two days later and it had died from it's wounds, so he made a necklace out of one of it's claws. Hell, people with small dogs have to stay outside with them to avoid them being carried off by an eagle, and our ravens are the size of some turkeys. Tourist backpackers die every year from underestimating the harshness of the Alaskan wilderness, thinking that their treks in Oregon or Washington are enough to prepare them. Read Into the Wild, for those who are interested. And please don't assume you can just simply move to Alaska without doing extensive research and spending the first few years learning how to survive from the locals; you will die.

When I was in college (in north central Washington state, relatively close to the Canadian border), I had a few friends from Alaska that lived in the same dorm. I remember them all laughing hysterically every time it snowed and people freaked out because it was 'the worst blizzard in X years'...They just called it 'our average Thursday in March'. But that helping people in need thing is 100% accurate. I cant count the number of times we'd be out driving to the store or dinner or whatever, and we'd see someone who looked like they *might* need a hand, and my buddies would insist we stop to make sure they were ok. It's a life lesson that still sticks with me to this day (nearly 30 years later), and I've never been outside the lower 48 (though all but the first few years have all been in states that border Canada, so we get our share of bad (relative to our location) winters). 'Aid Another' is an oft used skill in Alaska.

As a former worker of a cruise ship based in Hawaii, I love that the ship went from Hawaii to Alaska. Cruise ships in Hawaii used to switch back and forth between doing the Hawaii circuit and then doing the Alaska circuit, depending on the seasons. Nice attention to detail or a happy accident. Either way pretty cool

Different hemisphere but kind of agreed. From the Southern Hemisphere but at 27 degrees South getting dark at 5pm is... normal. Though apparnetly a calculator for sunset and sunrise times shows that is indeed the case. Short days but REALLY late sunrises (between 9 and 10am depending on the exact time of month.
