In 2018 the yankees lost 12 -15 1 run games all due to pitching . Add 15 extra wins in 2018 and the Yankees would of been division champions , the issue is pitching and situational hitting

Don's argument is wack. One player doesn't need to Guarantee anything. Machado is 26 years old with multiple gold gloves and an elite bat. Why would he give wealthy billionaires a discount and take food out of his family's mouth based on what the front office does to build the rest of the team to compete. The fans pay insane ticket prices to see the players, not to see the front office. Hes earned every cent, pay the man. Red Sox had the highest payroll and only paid 11 million in tax. Yankees made 600 million in revenue in 2018. only 30% of that was spent on the team, while the rest of the league is at around 50%.
