This fight was the 7th in a run of 16 wins in a row for Pacquiao. The win streak began in 2005 after his narrow loss to Morales in their first fight. It ended in 2012 when he lost by ko to Marquez. All 16 opponents were champions at the time or recent champions, there were no 'soft' opponents. During the win streak he fought at 130, 135, 140, 147 and 150, and one fight before the streak began he fought at 126. That's a total of 6 weight classes within 6 years. Among the 16 opponents he beat Morales twice, Marquez twice, Barrera, Diaz, Oscar Dela Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey, Antonio Margarito, Shane Mosley and 3 other highly ranked Mexican fighters that had a combined record of 132-14. Each of those were championship fights. In 3 consecutive fights during the winning streak he fought at 130, 135 and 147. Then, after beating Hatton at 140 he won twice at 147, then at 150 in his next fight, then twice again at 147. The fights I've mentioned during the win streak total 16, in addition to those Manny had 56 other fights, for a total of 72. Quite a career I would say, good enough for consideration high on the list of all-time great fighters.

In my opinion, THIS is PRIME Pacquiao. This was at lightweight, where Manny's speed and power were at his absolute best. Furthermore, this fight was right in the middle of Manny's greatest string of victories, where he won 15 or 16 fights in a row against some extremely elite competition. Had Manny stayed at lightweight, I just don't see anyone being able to beat him. Way too much speed and power for anyone to handle. Manny has heavy, heavy hands at this weight. I just watched the Haney vs. Lomachenko fight at lightweight, and they don't come close to the power of Pac Man. Manny was truly special.

It makes me wonder how it would have turned out if Floyd hadn’t ducked him until later in his career. We’ll never know.

A misleading propaganda. Pacquiao is a small welterweight yes but far from being smallest boxer. He was, in fact, bigger than Marquez and Barrera at 126 and 130. Even rehydrating up to 147 lbs...a normal size of a rehydrated super lightweight. So, the Manny is too small is just a myth and a complete exaggeration.
