Manny doesn't get enough credit for the hitter he was.. he batted .312 with 555 home runs and 2574 hits. Manny made the postseason 11 times, with 4 world series appearances, 2 world series rings, and a world series MVP. He's a 12x allstar, 9x silver slugger, 2x hank aaron award recipient. Manny Ramirez also holds the mlb record for most postseason home runs with 29 in just 111 games vs playoff pitching rotations. Never seen a right handed batter with a smoother swing and such effortless power. Steroids or not this man should be in the HOF, what a phenom.

Agreed. Certainly the purest right-handed swing of his generation. Haters gonna hate. He was a scatterbrained airhead with the mind of a child. Maybe he was faking it, but I think he probably didn't even know what PEDs were until he was pushing 40. Look at his build when he was on the Indians and Red Sox. Wow, I had never ever seen that first video! Classic Manny! Holy crap, some of these home runs..... Included the moment when he high-fived the fan in Baltimore and then doubled the dude off! My favorite Manny moment of all time.
@mandospence6 жыл бұрын
I always loved him as a player. His antics were...charming, and never cost his team a game (that I can think of?) He had the most brilliant right-handed swing the game has ever seen, and he was a surprisingly good fielder when he had to be. The time he high-fived a fan in Baltimore will go down as one of the funniest things I've ever seen, and the fact that he threw out the runner tagging at first makes it that much better. It was actually a spectacular over-the-back catch too (which nobody ever remembers), and his momentum legitimately carried him to the wall. (Not Mays-ian, but spectacular in its own right.) The fact that, while making the athletic, instinctive, heads-up double play, his goofy personality came through as he high-fived that fan, and didn't get in the way of him completing the double play. Just awesome. His athleticism was at the level where it looked so effortless that it gave the perception that he wasn't trying... but you don't hit 500 home runs in a career without trying. Then he failed a PED test there at the end and it was never quite the same. Oh well. I say he still deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. But that's another discussion for another day!

At 1:01, the home run he hits was officially listed as 501 feet. However, a lot of guys on the red sox speculate that the ball went further than that, but the red sox management didn't want Manny to break Ted Williams' long standing record of 502 feet. That home run also came the pitch after Manny swung and missed at a curveball in the dirt, after which he showed frustration intentionally to try and get the pitcher to throw another one. Truly a great hitter.
