I love how the MC caught the door with his arm after opening, as fast food restaurant doors always close, and we all do that catching the door after opening it thing. Great attention to detail!

I'm really impressed by the work that went into the cutscenes. Some of the angles felt awkwardly long at times, but the motion of the camera and the framing was phenomenal.

I love how they're mimicking the face technology used in some older, weirder games like Siren. It's a good way to be extremely readable, while also a little uncanny.

That was really cool. I like how the dev actually put some real effort into it on all aspects and made this rounded concept. Sure the fishing was weird, but I kept thinking, "okay, this is where the game will probably end." -- But it didn't!!! I really enjoyed the story telling! The pixelated people actually had more personality than some fully rendered characters.

9:58 as a unity/blender gamedev i notice this: notice the faces glitching when expression change? here's why. when it happens, for one frame you can see the face texture moving across the UV texture image map to another expression image. you can vaguely see how the facial expression images are arranged into a grid. Pretty sure this is the technique animal crossing and wind waker use for character eye and mouth expression as well. the "optimal " method would be to simply set the position of the UV vertices instead of "moving them really fast", but this creates a creepy effect. I'm literally in the process of programming the same thing for my game characters, haha. A benefit of doing this method, instead of having extra mesh objects for eyes and mouths atop the face mesh, is you can still have a single draw call/single material, which is good for performance. the super pro high level thing AAA studios do instead for high poly models, is using Blendshapes and visemes to animate the face (vertex morphs sculpted based on mouth and eye shapes, etc.), but that takes way more prep, work, and polish, though it can look borderline photoreal. but for a ps1 style game it would not fit the theme as well as these "face pictures" do.

I've seen a few people put out recommendations for Slay the Princess and now that I've finished watching Mark's playthrough I've got to agree with them. It's an EXCELLENT game and I think you'd probably really enjoy it. The story is fantastic, the creepier elements are FANTASTIC, it's got some funny bits to it, and the voice acting is great. It's a bit of a longer one but it's SO good.

Was the names of Bryan and Pasternack (sp?) a Yuppie Psycho reference?! Great game, looking forward to the second part! Edit: I dunno if you played it, but this is the best time to try Yuppie Psycho! It's been updated with multiple endings, has this American Psycho/The Office but mystical vibe, has similar critique of work, and something tells me you'll enjoy it!
