Hopefully in future patches we will be able to select how many men you raise in a militia. You forgot to mention the retinue, rally 15 spear men and your retinue(which I believe do nothing when not rallied, ie don’t help build or anything) March them to the bandits area, draw them out, then line you spear men up on stand ground with the retinue behind. When the brigands attack, you set retinue to run and push forward, and get them to go round the side and attack from behind. Breaks them real quick, usually you won’t even loose a single man.

Oh, yes, I love this tactic too! Although I have switched to swordmen instead of spears, because of extra attack power for faster crushing enemies :D

Great video, some nice tactics to avoid kings tax. I think I might implement this on all claimed regions, and have them specialised but kept as small village. I do think having your main town with the perks is necessary, especially if you want to be producing armour to sell, which easily creates enormous wealth if you manage it properly(deep pit mines and plate armour is like 5 development points alone. But the trade wealth from selling gives a great regional wealth boost, once you have about 10k then 10-15% tax in that region should cover your tax and give you some personal wealth. I upgrade every burgage to at least level 2, that way the wealth they produce passively actually covers the kings tax(if you are taxing in the 10-15% region. Just need a lotta logs!

I have a similar thought - had a plan to make central region the capitol of the map, with proper upgrades and development points spent. But for all houses to be upgraded I don't think it adds up - the current setup was house level times village level, so the 1 pesky coin from 2nd level house will never be enough to cover what King requires, because that was already multiplying the Kings tax from the upgrade itself. Also in the 0.7.965 beta patch the logic is change to: No tax for the first 5 years, 1 Treasury per citizen after 5 years, 2 Treasury per citizen after 10 years, 3 Treasury / citizen after 15 years. Which means - can't be avoided and you have to upgrade (or start selling a lot) no matter what. :/

Horses don't work in this patch, they are bugged, watch them closely, you will notice they dont drop off the goods properly...

Great vid man. New to the game as a week ago a bit comped but loving it . Finally figured out how to increase my money to hire actual mercenaries to stop the initial army invasion around 3rd year which I couldn’t get past all week. They just torched me down every time . I’m finally cruising along , but now my approval so staring to drop and don’t know why? Maybe I have too much going on for the eorjowes I have ? Or maybe I need to build more burgess plots I have 27 families with 30 living space available. Could that be it ?

From my experience - a few burned houses is way easier to recover, but yea - eventually we have to stand up to those bullies (bandits) :D If you have upgraded houses (2+ level) then it's most likely missing ale penalty, and might be lack of additional clothing variant. If you have those resources, then I guess marketplace ran out of space and there is no stalls to cover the required amount! Reminder how the product/food provisions work: if you have 30 families that require 2 types of food, that means you need exactly 30 carrots AND 30 berries (for example). And upgraded will need 3 types which also increases the amount they need it to be available in markets which is 30+30+30 in total! As soon as you have 30+30+25, they will be dissatisfied. And especially if you have too many types of food that will take up space but never fully reach 30 food coverage. Example of your 30 families and if you have carrots, eggs, meat and berries! In 2 food stalls you can collect 100 food, so there might be case 25+25+25+25 fully stocked market stalls, but none of them reach needed 30 food and you will have reputation drop, because of lack of food types. Long explanation, but this weird mechanic is important to tackle before it's too late :D

I’ve finally gotten built up enough and economy doing better , but I’m now in year 8 and still haven’t claimed a new territory , and my meat is running out , and timber 😂. Learned a lot this play through though.

There is new patchnotes out for 0.7.965(!) I am reading them as we speak! Some new changes, seems to be fixed trading and Kings tax not avoidable anymore, damn you Greg! :D

Exactly! Make your swords, destroy, then make shields (with some surplus) and again you can destroy and then just do what you want/need :D

Thank you and you're most welcome! Oh I see Tacticat went all in for the Manor Lords o.O Not sure it's worth it as the game is barely even started - I expect it to change many times :D I wouldn't recommend speaking Latvian - it's pretty grammarly complex language to master :D
