If you need to sell your car at an auction %. Your car isn’t very good. Sell it privately.

Selling it privately will take way longer especially for classic cars that are only desirable to niche collectors. You could be looking at a minimum of 6 months to a year to shift a classic car in this environment, especially if it's niche and isn't cap clean. Also, some of these cars will come from private hands, but some will be inevitably from part exchanges and a trade seller just couldn't be arsed spending a couple of grand to make it trade ready so they've shifted it here. Not all the buyers will be private individuals either. A fair proportion will be trade.
