The voice if from the Legendary Orson Wells ....his favourite metal band was Manowar, and hes put his voice to the song in 1987.

Actually Orson was recorded for two songs in 1982. Dark Avenger and Defender. Defender was released first as a single in 1983. A different version from that on Fighting the World in 1987. Original version was also re-released as a 12" picture disc in 1993.

Orson Welles died in 1985, he recorded the song in late 1982.

Manowar is somewhat special, they had ane ntry in the Guiness Book of Records for loudest Band, i remember a concert in the Netherlands next to an Airport 120 thousand Fans we didnt hear a single Plane during the Concert, or i just cant remember hearing any Planes. But it was amazing people from all over the world was there flying their flags and everyone being friendly to each other.

To Mario yusel Barcelo Linares: To be entirely accurate, I have seen basses with anywhere from 2 to 8 strings. The singer/bass player from Raven played 4,5 and 8 string basses. Then there is Stig Pedersen, the most underrated bass player, around. He played with D.A.D. And played (Get this) a two string bass. And he wasn’t just a rhthym player. The band used a lead bass line almost as much as they used lead guitar. If you’re curious, check out Sleeping My Day Away, Point of View, Jihad and Grow or Pay by D.A.D. ( Or Disneyland After Dark, if you prefer).

A couple of comments. The speaking part is done by a very famous American actor, Orson Welles. He did this part not long before he died. You picked a very good song, here. I think this is their best song, but you might check out Balck Wind, Fire and Steel from the same album. A DJ for a national Metal radio program timed the last note that singer Eric Adams sings in this song. He holds it for 24 seconds!
