6 years later and you just talked me into buying this. Hoping to get it the end of the week!

Ooph, dunno, it has not aged well? I mean, it's still fine but I think I'd recommend looking into something like Forgotten Waters instead. Cheaper, the stories are more fun, got that piraty thing of "can I trust you?" happening. Here's a review: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZ2rmaaCqc19qac

I can’t believe I’ve never scrolled to the oldest videos you tow have made! How sad I am that I missed your review of a fav in my collection. Great video! ❤

wow I've seen several of your videos and I applaud the passion you have for the hobby. Sometimes I try to engage my wife in a post-game talk about the gameplay but she seems rather reluctant. She really enjoys playing games but not talking about them. So in-depth are your impressions of each game and such is the dynamic of your reviews that I always gladly return to your channel. I don't always agree with you but hey at least I know what other people make of a game. Thanks from Warsaw.

So somehow I have come upon this video....loved it! Now I am forced to alter my plain of looking for reviews of just this game to raiding the other videos on this channel. The review was just so well done. (and entertaining as well) Mind blown *BOOOOOOM*

One thing is nice which I don't think you mentioned in the video is that the 2nd Edition comes with a 1st Edition transfer pack which enables players to take certain elements from the 1st game and use them in the latest. I pre-ordered it from Waylandgames and I think they had a 20% discount (or around that mark) which of course was negated due to foreign shipping costs as I was out of the U.K. I have to pick at the cellophane to open it and teach myself and large group of Spaniards to play this on Sunday so hey ho.
@NoPunIncluded8 жыл бұрын
You will find learning and teaching this game a breeze! Just do what I did and give a very brief explanation (unless of course your players are confused as to what's going on - don't leave them clueless). Dice rolls, clue tokens and combat subtleties can be explained as you go along.

As usual top notch review! I already have this game and love it. I'm glad you agree, I knew you would, as like me, you were fans of the original despite all its problems. Your reviews are pure entertainment. I watch all your reviews even if I have no interest in the game. That puts you in an elite club of two, "Shut up and sit down" being the other.

Another great review, I never bought the 1st edition as I was to busy ploughing my money into pimping my arkham horror gaming experiance, which leads nicely onto a interesting point I think I'm correct in pointing out, fantasy flight stopping printing the arkham horror pre painted miniatures some time ago and although I have all the models they had available circa 18 months ago this did not include some items already sold out, however i believe they are going to reprint these under the mansions of madness label, so my obsessive compulsive disorder combined with adding another great arkham title to my collection may require some creative financing and me brushing up on my painting skills in the coming weeks well at least there isn't any other new arkham horror collections coming to market soon........ Oh wait....... Curse you fantasy flight fghhhhnugggh......

Did you miss the interaction between keeper and investigators? That was one of my favorite parts of the first edition.
@NoPunIncluded8 жыл бұрын
Honestly, we didn't. We both feel like the balance between Keeper and Investigators in the first edition was wonky at best and was dependent on the scenario you were playing. It required a more "rpg" approach to adversity, which the app handles like a champ anyway.

It seems like MM2E is to Elaine what Seafall is to Efka. I love your videos guys. Related to this video, have you seen much change between play-throughs of a story? My group has seen what amounts to two versions of the first game with some minor changes on the loot; I'm hoping that's more of a coincidence than anything else and wanted see if anyone else had seen if it was the case. Just as an explanation, we did one test game to learn it, one with new players to teach it, and then a third game to see if we could win, although we evidently played the wound rule wrong due a misread on my part in game 2.
@NoPunIncluded8 жыл бұрын
We've seen little change between scenarios, although that sort of thing is very subjective. Even if there are two different maps for the same story, it seems like it's the tiles that have been switched out for other tiles, but the adventure remains mostly the same. There are multiple endings though, which is a nice touch.

Some morally grey areas there that makes us feel uncomfortable about reviewing something that the general public has no access to and won't for a good chunk of time. It works for others and more power to them!

Funny thing, I got this game out only once, and its because of the App, no one that plays wants to look at a screen when playing a board game, constantly switching back and forth took us out of the game and made us not enjoy it. I actually prefer Eldritch Horror over this game.

Great review! I had not heard of you before but I agree with and applaud your criticism. I think it's important for reviewers to tell the truth no matter how enthusiastic they are and few have even approached that touchy subject. Now the stuff you said about the *game* I also agree with but I think I'll pick it up because I think there will be more expansions and even though with me it's not so much horror (you forgot to mention that the man also only had two endings to his stories.) as it is adventure, and maybe it's my lack of skill at FFG Horror games but I don't really think I will exhaust this game in four attempts so for me at least I think I'll get the value out of it. I've also heard some great ideas about expanding the app to allow you to edit and create your own scenarios so I can hope for that as well. Keep it up you guys, that was some funny stuff!

Do the madness cards ruin the solitaire experience?
@NoPunIncluded8 жыл бұрын
No, as each card is marked with the requisite number of players and if you draw one that's not appropriate you discard it and keep drawing till you get the right one.

The conversion kit upgrade to incorporate the old minis was a major disappointment. They don’t actually integrate into other missions besides two specifically created for them, which is highly unintuitive at best and cynically misleading at worst.
@spackln25078 жыл бұрын
So $25 dollars per play....wonder if the additional scenarios will be pay per?
@NoPunIncluded8 жыл бұрын
They've announced two packs that will give you all the minis and tiles from the first edition core set and expansions. Each of those packs will come with a free scenario. If you already have the first edition stuff, you can just use the two new scenarios for free. After that, who knows? But I would bet a good amount of money that they will be optional paid content a la Time Stories.

Mansions of headaches. Mansions of nonsense. Mansions of depression and sadness. I don’t know why it is so hard to make a good board game... everywhere you look reviewers say this is one of the best... and it still SUCKS. I mean it has its elements, but overall, it’s seems we always leave the table exhausted and disappointed at the outcome.

my problem with this game is that is has very little decision making, even compared to eldritch and arkham. In addition it has too much dice rolling that make you forget about the story. The lovrecraftian word is not about hordes of monsters but a single one that lurks in the shadows
@NoPunIncluded8 жыл бұрын
Well, we agree with you that there's a lot of dice rolling. Arkham and Eldritch are the same sadly. And for us it represents Lovecraft better in terms of atmosphere. As for decision making - you're also probably right, but all the decisions you do get to make are narrative based which are the most exciting decisions for us.

Overrated, you spend half your time watching your phone/tablet, the other half you spend looking for tiles etc during the game, the puzzles need to be removed, you can spend many many turns just solving a puzzle ffs, last one i did took 24moves to solve, thats alot of turns, we just played the puzzle in one go then moved on before the others fell asleep lol Ive never felt i was playing the game, it felt like i was just carrying out the instructions the APP constantly gave me. They added more scenarios but you got to pay for them then the APP will update with them. The models lok a bit shit too and those stands...... wtf one of them is even bigger than the tile itself, just put away the models and stands and just use the little monster cards, but then the cost is the cheap models......
