I just assembled my Deadzone terrain and found this video very useful. It was great knowing in advance that I need to be mindful and can't just use connectors willy nilly.

Late to this video (Oct 2023) . Great video mate! My tip if the tube gets blocked just dip the end of the tube into a bottle of polystyrene glue, it seems to reactivate the blockage and then use it as normal.

I love this stuff. Just got the starter box and extras and it's great. You can't take it apart, you have to build it and glue it. The key is to make parts that fit together. And you can do the fill tyke on the gantry. In the back, just put a 1/2 tile to hold it up. Great vid dude!

Cheers mate, it's all built and glued now anyway but I've got to say, I love how you can just move the stuff about for different setups

I've started putting mine together and have found your tips very useful. I've put one together with the connectors and now I'm experimenting with assembling one without the connectors; just gluing the plates together. So far, so good.

Euan Smith Gluing without connectors, even I wasn't that brave lol. Let me know how you get on matey!

TheTerrainTutor I've done a couple of bits for Deadzone (though that is on hold until I get some bits from Slymaster to pimp them up) and all the scenery from the Mars Attacks boxed set. I made a Lego right angle to help with getting the corners correct. It was just a case of running a line of glue down one side of the join and then lining the edges up by eye and then using the Lego to square up the corner. The connectors on the Mars Attacks terrain were completely loose and would have to have been glued in to place anyway. The Mars Attacks terrain also suffered more gapping than the Deadzone stuff. I'm a big supporter of Mantic and have backed pretty much all of their kickstarters to a tidy sum, but they often seem to be their own worst enemy. In the case of this terrain, they really seem to have over complicated things with the "take it apart and put it together again" idea. Such a shame.

I keep it unglued . Very comfortable in storage, because it's completly flat and don't require lots of space. Second plus of unglue is you can create diffrent battlezone each time you wanna play (minus is that it take more time to set up). I've got two Deadzone starters and both 2nd edition expansions that contain terrain, and it's whole bunch of nice and flexible terrain (Urban, Industrial, Fortified/Land Zone and Ruined all mix and match)

I just opened my Military Checkpoint, and did a dry-fit. Noticed that the kit needs about half again as many connectors to make it really sturdy. I bought the connector booster pack from Mantic's online shop so I don't run out of connectors towards the end of the build.

This is a rabbit hole. Was just watching BoW/OTT XLBS from 15th August 2021 where Ben mentioned a video with Warren building that stuff ages ago.... first comment on that video was: The Terrain Tutor XD. That's funny enough but the next video KZbin suggests is this old one. And now I'm here watching a 7 year old video XD Don't you just love our hobby? *g*

Regarding your glue with the metal tube - glue like that is usually self-solvent (?), so all you need to do if it's clogged is switch the metal tube back to front and wait a little, and it should clear up by itself.
@TheTerrainTutor10 жыл бұрын
Oh, I'll give that a try mate, thanks

When you pulled on the tower (that sounds a bit dodgy) my monitor nearly had a shower of tea. Brilliant. If your mate isn't a fan of DZ, I will take his place. It is such a good game. I am looking for a job for nothing else, but to get this box set. Followed it on Kickstarter and loved it then, followed all the Mantic and Beasts of War videos on this. It is fab. Don't do bases for these as it obviously needs to be used on the mat, but there is a ruined sprue with rubble connecters. Also, I believe it is hardened plastic, but I may be wrong.

It wouldn't be one of my vids without a moment like that matey, where are you based? pm me

great vid, nice review :) it looks like nice kit of terrain pieces that are fairly quick to assemble and still offer a nice add-on to the gaming board :) you could also use the (limited amount of) connector pieces to hold the tiles together, put some glue on the seams without putting glue on the connector piece and remove the connector pieces afterwards(?)
@TheTerrainTutor10 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, you could do that with the horizontal connectors but the corner ones would be locked in place by the panels. If you want to glue them, I'd use lego as a guide matey ;o)
@klonik7910 жыл бұрын
way to easy clean that revell contacta tube is to light nozzle with lighter or match/candle. Glue will not catch fire and tube will be clean. if you worried take it out, hold with pliers and set on fire :D

Too right mate, personally I think we should bring back tarring and feathering for offences such as this but use static grass instead of feathers.Yep, I'm painting them up to match the box artwork mate

An other way of 'cleaning' the metal nozzle of your plastic glue bottle is heating it with a lighter (also first remove it from the bottle). The stuck plastic glue will evaporate by the heat (DONT inhale it!!).

I think what you may call shenanigans is actually a need for a reverse view....lol. Looking at the picture you show of the walkway...I don't believe they've put a full panel on the back and its open....may possible free up another full 3x3 and be the missing 7th floor tile....just an idea...?!?! Good review and great tips and good luck on the lottery!! ;)
@TheTerrainTutor10 жыл бұрын
A reverse view would have been good, well, any other view lol. Yeah, you're going to have to get creative with it but I think I've pulled it off. Thanks and fingers crossed mate :oD
@Orinoco-C0G10 жыл бұрын
TheTerrainTutor There's a possibility that 2 of your bits are not in the same places as the picture and would explain the missing floor. Both walkways on the box are connected to half width walls, one of your's is connected to a full width wall which should be the floor of the other building that has a half width floor (which should be the wall of the other building). Great video though

Thanks for reviewing the terrain kits. I think, I'll have to buy that "Mega Deal". It's hard to resist... must be strong! Argh! The price is very good. If you look at the unnamed, you can see that they're far away from selling you four armies, rules and lots of terrain for 99£/120€. ;)
