I can't say I really felt the Mantic world (I don't think it's called Mantica anymore, though I totally still call it that) needed 'larger, more evil' orcs, but, I do like these guys. They're totally going for a Uruk-hai/Warhammer Fantasy Black orks vibe with them, which is fine. I love that they ride manticores, and have cyclops as pals though. Will inevitably get some of their monster pals for other projects, I'm sure.

I wonder how much of this is Uruk-hai/Black Ork influence versus an intentional dark mirror of the Sigmarines. They've combined the hammers, the heavy armor, and the lightning motif. Their lore even has them coming back when they die to become even more experienced warriors.

Thank god. I started to think that I was seeing ghosts when I assembled and painted several boxes of Deadzone 3rd Edition minis last month. The model parts look very crisp on the sprue. But something felt off about the details when I was actually working on the minis. There were tons of sharp edges and lines, but sometimes they were just "wrong" or didn't fit together. I still had fun, the actual games are very good and one complete mantic force is as expensive as two troop boxes from GW. So I don't want to complain too loud, but it still was a bit strange.

I want to try Deadzone 3E. Both of us here have multiple painted forces we could field too. My hope is this summer to get out all my Deadzone terrain, figure out how to put it into semi built modular chunks, glue it all together, and give it all a very basic paint job.

I've seen others who painted these too, and there has to be a way to paint them to distinguish more of the armor.

at 12:15, I find that holding the top of the piece (leg in this case) in boiling water until soft and then quickly pressing into place can help close up some of those types of gaps. It can't fix everything but it often makes it better.

Man, I love your Videos, they’re a great way to check out 3rd party kits

A shame about the smaller scale. With all the lightning imagery, it would be nice to use them as Orkcast Eternals. Greenskinz of Sigmar. Well, at least you might be able to use their heads and/or arms for conversion purposes.

I like the look of these guys. I might try to convert some into Krork. But I’ll need to add lots of pouches and sheathed weapons to the sides of their legs, apparently. And those 25mm square bases might be useful for terrain…

Krorks? Well dang, that's a name I haven NOT heard in a LONG time. I thought they were supposed to have been even bigger than the current orks, but it could make for a fun idea. I am saving some sprues of these back to see how they mesh with the new Marauders when they show up as well. Might add to some nice Krork possibilities!

Perhaps some can be converted into dragon men stormcasts with the use of WGA lizardmen or Frostgrave demon heads?
@colmmorrison20352 жыл бұрын
Many of the frostgrave sprues (such as the knights or wizards) tend to come with a fair few pouches and sheathed weapons and whatnot for customization.

You getting some of the bigger monsters? The Stormchaser (?) really intrigues me.

At some point or another, probably. I'm intrigued by the cyclops and the big guy as well.

It seems completely insane to me that Mantic is burning money tooling 2 sprues that have 2 copies of each sculpt when they could get the exact same result with 1 sprue. Other than that, seems like a sharp cast, but I don't care much for this World of Warcraft aesthetic.

Aaargh... which I *SHOULD* have remembered! I've been thinking of building a new Oni/ Ogre army as it is...

The molds look really clean, and Mantic continues to up their game, but only two body styles for ten models? Come on! Riverdance central.
@ObscuritiesinMiniature2 жыл бұрын
Two sets of five actually. Five bodies seems to be pretty typical variance for most plastic infantry sprues outside of smaller scales.
@bopaintsminis2 жыл бұрын
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature It's a bit better; I guess it would depend on what else one could do to take attention away from the sameness. The Wargames Atlantic lizardmen are the worst for that, because their "body styles" were just two different loincloths on almost identical bodies. Of the box, I only built, based and painted five or six because they were all starting to look the same. Still, love for your videos as you continue to explore alternatives to James.
