You're not alone. All my Deadzone figs haven't seen an actual Mantic game since DZ 1st ed. Been getting a workout in Rogue Stars and Void Pirates and Stargrave, though.

I love Deadzone, and I was really looking forward to this kit, but those bodies have flat spots, and each head has a mold line right down the middle. Already having enough Marauders for a Firefight army, I'm good to have to skip this one. Mantic can do better, and if they are going to make the Rebs in plastic, I hope they learned something from this set.

I agree they can do better! The Vanguard/ Kings of War stuff has been pretty solid up until the orcs. They had similar undefined areas on their sides as well. Perhaps its the thickness of the models? Granted, some paint covered it up decently enough, but these guys have a bit more detail that should be showing through. As far as I know they haven't changed plastic manufacturers either, so not sure why one kit is fine and others aren't. Plus that mold line on the face really does suck.

On the mouldline down the middle of the head, I mean...GW still does that lol

Five body styles? You'd have to mix them up well with your boyz so they don't look like riverdance.... I'd probably only build five and put the rest in the bits box. Edit: I'd use five for tabletop rpgs and give the other five to a friend.

Five bodies isn't bad, especially with the head and arm variance. No worse than the old boyz kits really. It's the poses and faces that really mix things up. I've been building some of the new Necromunda kits, same deal- five bodies, but with all the head and arm variants those same bodies can look substantially different.

I really like Mantic! Their games to me are second to none and as a company they get us gamers. That being said their models to me are hit and miss. If they could just get a maker that can deliver the crispness that we see coming out of other companies! And why run the mold line down the middle of the face? I’ll buy these and build and paint them along with all my other Mantic models that I’ve done since the beginning, but they missed the boat with these Marauders. I’m now and always a “Mantic Fanatic” but in a day and age where 3D printers can deliver super crisp detailed models they need to rethink their process.

I'm hoping the ogres turn out a bit better. Haven't gotten to them yet, but it's pretty much a guarantee I will at some point!

But, mantics stuff is so bad...lol I don't know what kind of plastic they use but I got some of they're dwarves for frostgrave and my plastic cement would not work. On top of that the details are quite dull and soft.
@ObscuritiesinMiniature2 жыл бұрын
The Dwarf kit is showing its age at this point. They're resin dwarfs are much nicer. Surprised at the plastic cement not working. Mine always has- heck you can see it globbed all over these Marauders!
@j4532 жыл бұрын
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature i use tamiya thin cement so no globs for me. Also I dont know I got mixed up, I got the dwarves for Stargrave not Frostgrave. Don't know how I did that...

More "terribly erratic" than actually bad, which is more annoying in a way. The plastic Marionette kits is awesome, especially for kitbashing with the support drones than come with them. These orks, not so much. Pity OiM didn't do a test fit with the arms on a GW booty-shaker boy, although they look like they'd be compatible - no that they're really much better.
@montycasinosbarandgrill Жыл бұрын
The plastic is more of a PVC on their older models. It doesn’t melt like normal plastic does with model cement. Super glue will do the job.

You think if the bodies were cut in the halve(side to side) the issue of merging detail could be fixed?
@ObscuritiesinMiniature2 жыл бұрын
That's way more work than these guys are worth!

Would those be any good to convert/kitbash into 40k Orks?
@ObscuritiesinMiniature Жыл бұрын
If you aren't too picky about the lack of details along the sides of the body, I don't know why not. In all honesty, I feel they were a step back from the restic releases that accompanied Deadzone. They do the job alright, but I'd love to see these models redone under better care and supervision (like their current releases that Archon are manufacturing).
