Hi Bruce. I’m beginning to get a feel for the Manticore, and I’m starting to understand it more each time I use it, however I don’t believe it’s the right machine if you’re new to detecting. The Equinox would be a much better choice in that situation. I also believe the software needs some improvement, particularly in regards to the way the machine reacts to iron targets, but I’m pretty confident we will see this in the future.

Im "Upgrading" .. this is going to be a big purchase for me.. eq800 or what would any of you do? Been using my trusted bounty hunter quick silver for 20 years! Yes, I cant even count how many gold rings I have found on the beach with it!

Depending on your budget, there are a number of great machines at around the AUD$1200 mark including Equinox 900 and Nokta Legend. If you can spend a bit more, then perhaps the Deus 2 or Manticore, however these higher end machines require more effort to master as they have many, many features and possibilities for adjustment.
