I was amazed when the Bassist, of African origin, sings in Hindi from Indian jazz/pop album by Kailash Kher, Teri Diwani @54.30 in a prestigious jazz concert hosted in lakeside Swiss town. Just a testimony to the cliché that “music has no languagel. This particular Indian album is outstanding album with some musicians including very proficient bassist. Manu Katché is such a fine artist. Little wonder he was part of Jan Garbarek band, which later Trilok Gurtu of Indian origin as its percussionist. 🎉

One thing I really admire about Manu Katche's playing is his willingness to play softly, to have the drums be a contributing texture instead of the dominant sound. Good drummers, do this, of course, but Katche does it with a little something more. And, of course, when it's time to play out, he does that well too.

En même temps Manu il peut tout jouer du jazz,du funk,du rock et j'en passe c'est pas pour rien que c'est le batteur des stars Peter Gabriel,Sting,Francis Cabrel,Jan Garbarek et j'en passe. Une finesse,une présicion dans son jeu,une subtilité et je dirais qu'il est reconnaissable notamment avec sa caisse claire en rimshot et surtout les splash 6 et 8 qui lui donne une particularité irremplaçable énorme....
