As a matter of fact, Richard played and recorded with Joe Zawinul in the ZAWINUL SYNDICATE, which Joe formed in 1988 after Weather Report disbanded in 1986.

@@cedricmonbaron734 c'est rigolo parce que c'est exactement le même titre qui a retenu mon attention et plus particulièrement le moment où il chante les notes qu'il joue (ou l'inverse...!) et la reprise de l'orchestre, c'est phénoménal !! Et joyeux !! Je m'intéresse aux vidéos de basses et de bassistes et trop souvent les musiciens sont très fort techniquement mais tellement vides d'émotions que c'en est pénible. Ici la technique est sous entendue, déjà acquise et ce n'est plus le propos, et cela laisse la place à l'émotion, à la joie, au plaisir de jouer et de partager avec les autres musiciens et bien sûr le public !

In my opinion, there is absolutely no doubt that the WDR Big Band is a superb and classy band of the highest order. The band consistently delivers a wonderful and entertaining experience. All the musicians are dedicated and accomplished and evidently know their craft. The band has performed with the likes of Maceo Parker, Take Six, Joe Zawinul, Bill Evans, Roy Hargrove, Steps Ahead, and The Yellowjackets. I have no hesitation in recommending that one watch ALL the WDR Big Band videos available on You Tube. It will be time very well spent.

The first time i saw this concert was in 2016. Since then it has become a sentiment value to me. It is one of the Best Big Band interpretation of African Music. Inspiring and very well thought melodic patterns, hits and solos. Thanks to Richard Bona, Vince Mendoza and The WDR Big Band for this Masterpiece. Percussionist Rhani Krija added a major vibe to the whole sound - great conga playing on "Manyaka o Brazil" Always appreciated WDR live performance coverage. Immer wieder schön, wenn echte (!) Musiker mit Gefühl und Leidenschaft live Musik machen. Großes Lob an die WDR Big Band, die - vom Individualniveau - scheinbar aus Solisten besteht und offensichtlich auch jede Stilrichtung authentisch spielen und musikalisch "leben" können. Richard ist dazu dann noch das "Sahnehäubchen" mit eigenem Stil und jeder Menge spielerischer Leichtigkeit. Das Gesamtpaket ist ein Muss für jeden "Big Band Liebhaber". Einzige Kritik wäre die Audioqualität (in Mono und offensichtlich nicht wirklich gemastert ?), die leider einiges an Auflösung der Instrumente verschluckt und das perfekte Konzert zumindest hier leider akustisch schmälert. Kleiner Hinweis an die WDR Big Band ... bei Bedarf einfach mal bei mir melden ;-) Ich habe für mich eine gemasterte Version mit deutlich mehr Auflösung erstellt ... vielleicht ist die für Euch auch interessant (Dritt-Interessierte sind aus urheberrechtlichen Gründen natürlich ausgeschlossen - Copyright hat ja die WDR Big Band, bzw. By the way ... ich find´s klasse, dass Ihr über KZbin Big Band Liebhabern eine Möglichkeit gebt, so tolle Konzerte "mitzuerleben". Vor allem zur Zeit ein kleines großes Highlight ;-)

I think it's amazing when Bona can play and sing without looking at the double bass, he performs everything in a calm and conscious way. The band also has its merits, all synchronized and precise. Congratulations !!!
