This is beautiful. He doesn't really talk about the thing he's making, or his feelings, but they need not be said. We get to watch him make it while he mutters truths to himself, like a personal, private ritual. He says a toast, takes a swig of vodka, adds it to the peracetic acid mix, imbuing the grief over his fallen companion into his crafting process. Here is a man who wears his heart on his hands. 🐶❤️

Thanks for your videos AvE, they've been an inspiration. My trusty kitchenaid chooched its last and let the smoke out while I was grinding some meat for the feline companions, and I know that a couple years ago I would have had no idea what to do about it - but after seeing you perform, uh, 'careful disassembly' of all these widgets and gadgets over the years, now I have an understanding of what goes on under the hood. My apartment hasn't got room for a workshop, bench or vise, the fanciest tools I own are an adjustable wrench, a screwdriver, and knife & fork, and my soft pink hands haven't seen harder labour thank stocking shelves back when, but I've got that sucker torn down and I actually have the option of asking myself "buy a whole new thing, or replace the burnt out bits and save a buck". So, thanks.

This video was a wake up call...to what I’m not sure. My humanity? We feed our souls through strife, creativity, and curiosity. The internet has stolen all of that and left only the hedonic drive. Watching you work and wax philosopoetic made me realize how much time I’ve squandered. That’s why I think this is the most beautiful video on KZbin: a reminder of what it means to be a fully fledged human. Thank you.

Dogs were the very first animals that we humans domesticated, so in a way, we have them to thank for our entire civilisation. With that in mind, if humans are ever wiped out in some cataclysmic event of biblical proportions _(cough cough)_ then I hope that this box is the only evidence that the alien archaeologists discover. The box itself, a demonstration of our ability to craft and build, and the memorial paw, a monument to those with whom we shared the path

More than that, I'd say all people are monsters, some just manage to wrap themselves in enough layers of denial to think they're pacifists. Maybe they'll even allow themselves or others to be prey to support that comforting delusion. But nobody who wouldn't allow everyone they know and love to be tortured and killed in front of them without lifting a finger to stop it is really a pacifist, they just have a higher threshold for when they believe force becomes necessary. Even then, most are kidding themselves, hiding from the reality of the policies they support: “When you vote, you are exercising political authority, you're using force. And force, my friends, is violence. The supreme authority from which all other authorities are derived.” ― Robert A. Heinlein, Starship Troopers That said, I too have been the victim of a few monsters in my life and you have my sympathies. A dog will love you unconditionally through the toughest of times, and love you equally during the best. AvE, you're one hell of a man. Dogs are the only thing on this planet capable of 100% unconditional love to a human. Their loyalty is absolute and unbreakable. Their happiness so easily achieved with a squeaky toy, a quick game of catch with a ball, or a scrap of steak you gave them. They are also completely content with just spending time with their beloved owner and best friend. They are willing to charge right into danger to help their human with little regard to self preservation. They are a gift to us and their only flaw is they have so little time on this earth. That said a dog gives more love in their 10-16 years than most humans do their entire lives. Beautiful tribute to a beloved family member and best friend of yours. RIP Buddy.

I've watched many times the hording mass hysteria happen. Watched people lose their shit trying to buy the last gas, food, milk, iPhones, and toilet paper in existence. Meanwhile, I've never succumb to that hysteria, even worried about it. I always have enough canned food and meat in the freezer to wait out the majority of the mob mentality exercises (at least a week). I'm no prepper, but just keeping a little bit in reserve removes 99% of stress during those times. While they are losing their shit, I'm drinking whiskey and coke.

I got a deep freeze I have stocked with the manager special meats because if you freeze it it's good for a long time.

Pretty much the definition of prepper!

@@jay90374 lol, my definition of pepper is one that prepares for years of service interruption, not days or a couple weeks, but you're probably right

Sorry for your loss. You have a serious grasp on philosophy and history. I grew up in blues country, and a lot of people don’t know the real story. You definitely do. You’re right; we all have to keep our “monster” in check…

Happy hunting over the rainbow Bridge Buzzard. I lost 2 dogs this year both far far too early in their lives. I'm not a man with your metalworking skills but I did similar with the paw print on slate with my laser cutter.

I owe you more than a couple of beers for this restorative sit-down. I hope the goodwill spreads far enough.

Hells Gate is an inviting sounding place. I used to live in an area called Poverty Plains and worked in a state park called Satan's Kingdom. Fair to say settlers had a rough time back then.

It was a normal video until you place it that rough finish, hand made dog print inside the cnc machined box. I assume it's a metaphor for how much this meant to you. It could be interpreted in many ways but to me, seeing that is something that will stick with me for life. Thanks dude.

Ok. No more complaining. You'd have Solidworks if you weren't just as cheap as the rest of us 🤣

Student SolidWorks. Sort of cheap but yearly payments aren’t great.

@@arduinoversusevil2025 that machine you got is a lot like buying an airplane. If you're in the market for one you're not worried about the price of gas. This from the guy that's not writing the check though. iiirc a seat of standard Solidworks is 5K. That doesn't get you fancy 4 axis cam, however. Here in Michigan we have a 10 cent deposit on carbonated beverage containers. A guy of your abilities would be able to save up enough in no time.
