Manual Garbage Collection: Jeff L & Rodger, Mark & Dean -- 8/16/2010

EPISODE 10 is my last visit to Newport Beach before school started. We start off in an alley with Rodger and Lewis. I wondered why Lewis was with Rodger at first sight. A couple minutes after entering the alley, Lewis got out of the truck and told me that they put him on a two-man truck full time now. He explained that he was having back problems, which are obviously related to working on a one-man truck. Nothing unusual for a 59 year-old garbage collector LOL.
The first alley is part of what Marc once called "Jerry's Old Run". It belonged to a Checkoslovakian garbage man named Jerry, who retired at the end of 2009. I do plan on filming it someday in the future. Believe me, it takes a LOT of energy to go from street to street on that route. But I'll still pull it off somehow.
Then you'll see Dean and Mark (one-manner Mark) on #29 with KC driving it. Followed by Ryan and a special guest who let me film. I think only because he was working with Ryan.

@arkansastrash320 Oh that's Lewis. 60 years old and still doing good. Summer in Newport Beach means a LOT of garbage. And this was a lot even with Saturday pick-ups.

@mtr82952 Nope, Lewis is now full-time on a two-man truck. I'm not sure where #30 is on Mondays now. In NB that black can as well as the Brute are the most popular cans. Not sure if he'll let me film again. I think he let me film because Ryan was with him.

@Trashman242 Thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to do that soon. Yeah Rodger's a pretty cool guy. Does pretty good in this line of work at 63 years old. Ryan is everybody's favorite. And the guy that was with him was Dan. I don't think I've told you the whole story about Dan yet. I know I've told everyone else.

@SoYourLifeSucks The trucks in this video are not Rainbow Disposal, they are owned and operated by the city of Newport Beach, California. There is however a Rainbow Disposal here in southern California, but it's not the same Rainbow Disposal that AAA bought out. Two different companies, but same name LOL.

@SuperOptimus217 In Newport Beach, people do not have to sort their garbage. The city collects all garbage and then transfers it to a recycling facility where recyclable material is filtered out and then recycled. More recyclables are found this way and the city also saves money with this method. And it makes things easier for the people too.

@mtr82952 Not sure when it will be replaced, or even what will replace it. I want a baby Brute too. Hopefully he'll change like Jeff & Brian did. He should really take advantage of becoming famous like Ryan, Jim and KC.

@RainbowDisposal Oh allright, cool will 04 be replaced soon with another CNG or Gasoilne, ahh allright I want to get more 20g brutes, they are one of my fav cans sold these days. Oh allright hopefuly he has had a change in heart and will be more chill, but who knows LOL

@RainbowDisposal Yeah, the 32g Semcos without wheels are not that great either, my friend has two that are not too old and both cracked pretty fast, his folks got a Rehrig now and use the Semcos for yard waste. But whoever thought it was a good idea for those new Rubbermaids to have such small wheels must have been really high when they thought of that, because small wheels are just a complete fail.

That's OK, man, but what's up with paper? I'm asking because, as we know here in Cyprus, the dirty paper is bad for recycling. And as I saw in this video, it is no way to find clean paper after the pick of this materials on the sorting place. It's going for do compost?

That retarted can is so easy to crack, I wonder how many will break by the end of winter here, I keep seeing more brute 20s and 32s out here now. So thats who the special guest is, I wonder if he will be like how Brian was (I think) he use to not let you film until he was with Marc then he just was chill even with David
