Manual Swap For The Pink Floyd Golf 3! + Exhaust Fix ( 1.8T Project )

The pink floyd golf is going to be an extremely fun build once we get around to starting it. Pieces for the car just keep falling into place and I love it! We've got the 1.8t engine and now we have the manual swap for it as well.

This limited edition was so cool. Had all thos little details on the dashboard and the stickers on the outside. After waching more of the video, damn, those Recaro seats with the Pink Floyd fabric would look absolutely amazing. And the whole themed engine bay. You could remove the plastic cover, but the sheet metal spark plug cover and engrave Pink Floyd into that, and after that, fill it witg enamel teal paint. Maybe paint it matte black too or something. 1.8T is pretty hard to make look nice. It's kind of a messy engine. Wires all over the place. Painted wires would be a subtle touch too. Or maybe, even printed with the graphics from the fabric. Also, another coat of clear would be quite good, just to protect the Pink Floyd stickers for the future.

Your consideration for your neighbour's is admirable, a good quality for a young guy. This auto to manual swap couldn't come at a better time. I have the same car as the pink floyd, which is manual, but I cooked the head. So I bought a mk3 coupe auto for the 1.8lt, and ended up registering it and driving to work. Now the auto is slipping so I'm interested as how you record your swap. Being mine is RHD Australia this could be a challenge.

If the gearbox donor car had an upgraded clutch and flywheel I'd be taking a closer look at the engine for upgrades. Maybe has a K04 turbo or some other goodies ? Not many people will beef up the clutch on an otherwise stock engine. Could just have had a remap I suppose...

This AP 1.8 i is very weak and the best is the AP 1.8 Mi. I liked the swap! 1.8 20V Turbo engine with 5-speed manual transmission. It will be awesome!

This will be a great build to watch when the Savoy is done but dude you are going to have at least 5 cars to ship back to the US . I know your going to possibly sell the GTI when it’s done but that still leaves Miley the R32 Savoy and Pink Floyd . Looking good!! You shouldn't need those mk4 axles. The 02j will bolt up to your stock mk3 axles as long as the trans has 100mm output flanges and not the 108mms... just swap to 100mm cups from a mk4 2.0 or tdi 02j and you're good to go OR If you have an EBN, EBQ, EGX or EGY 02J trans, you can bolt right up to the mk3 axles.

Nice score with the manual swap gearbox although a Audi TT 6 speed would of been nice ...on subject of TT parts figure out what it would take to fit mk4 rack to mk3 then fit an Audi TT quick rack🤔....fitted one to my mk4 V5 awesome upgrade really sharpens the steering feel up👍

Good work, the only thing I will mention is removing the Flexi from the exhaust will damage it with the engine movement. However you will probably change the exhaust with the engine so that's not so much of a problem. Is this a US spec MK3 or something that's been imported from europe?

I wonder if someone has had a spare key cut without a transponder chip for the no start issue and somehow got the keys mixed up as I had that with a spare key on a 1995 MK3 1.8 cabriolet as without it the car started for a split second and then cut out. It looks too straight to scrap but I guess we live in a disposable society and for some reason everyone wants new shiny rather than repairing good quality cars.
