MK4 O2J Transmission In A MK3 : Diff Flange Swap - 108mm To 100mm ( VR5 Savoy Project )

Honestly this was one of the easiest jobs ive ever had to do. If you want to use your mk3 2.0 axles with your o2j transmission this is the way to swap the 108mm diff flanges out for the smaller 100mm flanges to fit the mk3 axles.

Dang. I've always had such a time installing flanges when a trans is out of the vehicle... I have always used a pry bar to get the spring to compress in order to start the Alan bolt. Nice work

That axel flange popped out of my mk3 02A a couple times, can confirm there is no bolt

When I split my gearboxes to fix the common 1&2nd gear issue I just "nip" them up.. if you are ever worried just put some thread lock on it 👌.. done a load now and never had an issue

@Christian Smith have U thought about putting a 6speed out of a Audi TT coupled to the 18t in the Pink Floyd? Think that would make a interesting combination 🤔🤔 just take off transfer case & fit a 2wd conversation kit cheap enough.....yea I had to change the gearbox cups on my Sharan vr6 6 speed gearbox as being a 02N (just a 02M with different cups) that I put in my mk4 v5 Can’t wait for more Savoy/Floyd content 👍

Just looked at it in a mk4 Haynes service manual book it is says for the drive flange retaining Bolt it's 25 Nm or 18 ft-lbs

so, I'm trying to re-install the flange and it won't seat. It seats fine with the spring removed. With the spring on, no seat. Therefore the bolt won't thread in. ; (
