This would be the Garbaty cigarette factory in the borough of Pankow, in Berlin, as you can see by the cigarette packets at 1:30. Garbaty produced a range of very popular cigarettes under the, Kurmark, Garbaty Kalif, and Konigin von Saba, brand names. The Garbaty family were Jewish, and were forced to sell the factory in 1938 to the German, Jacob Koerfer Group. Josef Garbaty, who originally founded the firm in 1881, died in 1939. His sons eventually emigrated to the US, after first moving to France, in 1939.

Where were the Germans even getting tobacco during the war? Spain? Growing it domestically? Goebbels himself believed that the tobacco quality was already bad and that adulterating it any further would be damaging to morale.
@northernskys

@@gregorymalchuk272 German has been growing it domestically for around 400 years. They still grow tobacco today, but not as much as they did back then. Most of the tobacco fields have been turned over to growing various herbs.

Had the luxury to smoke a pack of army ration cigarettes. Smooth as butter with a lot of flavor. Never tried the german ones, though. Seeing this video it just resurfaced that feeling. Modern prepacked and rolled cigarettes were pretty damn awful, but these WW2 ones were miles better. On par with my own freshly rolled cigarettes I've made myself. Quit 3 years ago, the prices skyrocketed. Do miss it sometimes, especially when drinking coffee or enjoying a good movie/series.

Maybe I shouldn't tell you but you can get the leaf & process it yourself. Much better & cheaper (time consuming though).

they were in our C rations. Both filtered and non in every meal. we used them to barter with. So exactly who is responsible for all the military (past) that were forced to be around smokers? How many young soldiers STARTED smoking because of those cigs?

I'm not a tobacco man, does anybody have any opinions on the difference between English vs French vs American vs German tobacco? Is German tobacco as harsh as their sense of humor?

As a german i can say german tobacco is known to be stronger and have less flavour but ive never smoked it myself as there are basically no tobacco farms left here, but it was supposedly of high quality

If the "industrial" cigarettes of today how I like to call it would have a list of ingredients, it would be at least a 1 pager of DIN A5 Paper. Inhaled smoke in any form is of course dangerous and toxic for the human body. I always try to buy tobacco from the farm which has only been cured with water or buy rolling tobacco without additives except water curing, every single brand of ready to smoke cigarettes even the ones who say without additives use the absolute trash and byproducts of the tobacco plant, later on in the factory a liquid mixture from the so called "mother liquor" silo is being sprayed on pressed trash mixture of tobacco byproducts. In a sense a somewhat still distant comparison would be chicken nugget meat mixture just for better imagination what I mean

Higher quality cigs don't contain that, but they do have crap sprayed on. Also just processing that much, the more natural it is the more bugs you're smoking. I grow tobacco & it's like a magnet for gnats.

Imagine the quality of the aroma 💨 😋 Yes I think humans have become dumber in technology the empire is almost 🤔 and we get it all taken away for a vape that’s now proven worse than smoking tobacco lol

I am not an smoking or vaping advocate, smoke or any particles that enter the lungs are somewhat unhealthy for the human body but saying that vaping is "proven" to be worse just makes me wonder who and how it was proven, share us your source so we can also be enlightened about that topic, last but not least, vaping sure is not healthy as I said in my starting sentence about things entering the lungs but vaping for sure is less toxic and dangerous for the human body than inhaling smoke generated by combustion.
