I can testify that 39-year-old cow manure is GREAT for the garden. When I bought my place it was an established 70-year-old homestead. The barn had about 2 feet of manure built up and the lady I bought it from said they had not had any stock here for over 29 years. I was here 10 years before the proverbial light bulb came on and I put that 39-year-old manure in my garden. We had the best garden of my life (I'm over 70!)

You are right, brother Danny. You need to test that stuff. When I get my Black Kow, or even mushroom compost(remembering the problem Brian Lowell had with it), I always make a tiny hole in the bag and put a bean seed in it and let it grow till I'm sure it's ok. I do it with my soil I buy also. Better safe than sorry!

Not dads farming techniques today. I remember picking up cow patties and using them on our tomato plants before planting them. We had shale for soil. And we did get tomotos but today you don't know whether to use manure or not . Maybe it's time to use produce our own manure and growing our own feed for our animals like the old days of farming. Amish people know all about these old techniques. Thanks for another insight on this issue. I had some black cow which was about 5 to ten years old and it didn't help my potted plants. I have some Argentine Bahia grass seeds I may plant that in my containers. 73

I've been growing Kentucky Pole Beans for about 10 years at our current home, SE Pa., and save some seeds each year. Once or twice I have purchased some Kentucky Pole beans and plant them with my own landrace beans. They're fantastic beans and I've been sharing them with lots of folks locally, as well as, family in South Jersey. I also saved okra seeds from last summer. I'm teaching my GK's through seed saving, about how bountifully the Lord Multiplies. I call it Garden Math.

The 28th of April this year i lost my Husband of 46 years suddenly. A blood clot caused this loss. We garden our whole lives. And I still will. I'm not sure why your subscriptions is so small 🤔 He watched you all the time. Even, your live screens. I must admit, I'm not able to sit still that long. Well at least, unless a needle and thread isn't involved. Growing up the way we did we know a lot. But, at times would still hear something new from you. I guess it's not you but the listener. My Uncle used to say "A wise person has discernment and can HEAR. A fool has friends and EXCUSES. One will learn by example.. While another needs a (alphabet's) advice" I as always enjoy and can discern your videos. Thank you both. for sharing. Happy Father's day!

Your gardening videos are full of great information and teaching on gardening which I so appreciate. Have learned so much. As to the spraying of hay I have contacted so many places around here asking if their hay is being sprayed. They mentioned how many people have been calling them asking for this and so they called the hay person and asked and the same answer is always given that they must spray it or it won’t be good hay. Can you imagine that answer. I watch videos from other countries and many still use that handle tool to cut hay and they give it right to their cows. They don’t care if there’s weeds in it. They don’t poison people and spray like we do in this country and I find it to be very very sad. We will reap what we sow. I live in Georgia and many farmers around here still look at you when you question the spraying of things. They look at you like you’re a fanatic. I will continue to use my rabbit poop because I am having great success with it and sadly you find out you can’t worry about everything because that can make us sick. Do whatever we can and trust the Lord to protect us.

Potting soil if it has manure wont have it in it unless its cow manure and even then its regulated pretty heavily and in california Aminopyrallids are illegal.

@@DeepSouthHomestead So the potting soil I bought is ProMix organic compressed soil (I got it at Walmart). I received an answer from the company today. “Any of our products that contain turkey manure is organic. So no, there would be no aminopyrallids in it.” There is no turkey manure or any other manure listed in the ingredients, so I guess it is safe. I plan to buy a couple more now. Each compressed bag is equivalent to two regular large bags of soil.

Hello, Just to share some great info with you. All green PLANTS feed the soil microbes through there roots called exudates, Sunlight is the fuel to take carbon dioxide from the air to do this. These exudates from the roots contain sugars, proteins & carbs. There is never the need to add sugar or molasse to soil or compost. Thanks , enjoy your Day

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You for showing what a bean looks like when it should be picked vs. what it looks like when you save it for seed. I grew my first garden last year, and let all my beans go until they were very plump to pick them to eat. Now, I know this is wrong. Seed packets, books, and other KZbin videos didn’t show me the right way. My parents did not garden, so I am having to teach myself from reading books and watching KZbin videos.

Besides lime that the soil report said I needed I am adding bone meal, worm casting and prayer. Lots of prayer. Where my tomatoes are I have added a can of sardines for each plant. I was going to start side dressing with some Nature Safe 8-5-5 which is organic but now I'm not sure since you said it takes so long for it to be available. This is temporary and I hope to find a permanent place this fall and I can prepare my soil before winter. This summer I do hope my yellow beans look as good as yours. They are beautiful. When you said Dupont you weren't technically wrong. Dupont and Dow Merged in 2015 . Dupont operated as a subsidiary until their split in 2019. Vanguard (who is a share holder in Blackrock) bought up Dupont. When DowDupont split it did so into 3 different companies. Dow, Dupont and Corteva who is the maker of Grayzone. Dupont as you know was and has been involved in the release of C8 (used to make teflon cookware) that poisoned WV, KY and Southern Ohio back in the 80's. They bought the rights to make the chemical from a MN company called 3M prior. 3M sold it because they poisoned folks in MN with it. They warned Dupont of the danger and they didn't listen. NC was poisoned with C8 as well. This is what irks the crap out of me is how companies like this are still allowed to exist. They should have their doors closed forever imo.

We use synthetic fertilizer occasionally we don't really use it a lot. But people will eat grass fed beef that was fed chemical drenched grass and hay. They take medicine that is synthetic like you said it's just crazy you know how people sit here and they swear they're doing so much better than everybody else but then you can rip apart everything they say because it's like you're doing the same thing just in a different way.
