Very fine sir. I've often wondered what can be done to highlight a black plane. Now I know! My two amateurish attempts at Beaufighter and Blenheim nightfighters are what it says...black. You have given a masterclass in weathering a black fighter but we can still know that it's black. A great result. Thank you.

Good job mate, got a lot of insight on some techniques from your videos. If you’re looking for a 1/32 scale, I highly recommended tamiya’s F4u-1 line. Hands down best kit I’ve built.

That's a great finish Leon, all black aircraft are a big challenge. For me I feel the scratches and chipping are slightly overdone, however I don't think it takes anything away from the final finish. Looking forward to how you handle an all-white tank as I have wanted to a UN Mi-8 for a while but have been apprehensive about how to weather white well.

I love uniform aircrafts if you have some sort of texture and contrast, like the UN Mi-8 would be. I think chipping and scratches add a lot to it, but it's difficult to keep it restricted. Thanks for your critique and support!

I think the key with chipping is being realistic to the real world so there are some place that would not necessarily get chipped. Very nice build Leon. I'm keen to see another classic like a Bf110 or a Ju88. Happy modelling.

Always love the oil effects. Can you remind me the semi-gloss before the oils, is it acrylic or lacquer? For the dry brush with the oil colours, are you using a filbert tip? What type of pressure you running on the airbrush for the highly diluted colours? Great final result on the model. Looking forward to the next build and especially the 1:32nd scale!

I tried several brands and types of semi-gloss varnishes on this build, but the most satisfying was the Tamiya semi-gloss, thinned with Tamiya lacquer thinner. For drybrushing I like to use a very soft, synthetic brush. A filbert tip is also nice to use with blending and blurring oils. I use very low pressure for highly diluted colors, perhaps 10 PSI or less. Just as low, that it doesn't blow away the color on the model. I'm very looking forward to build my first 1/32 scale model... Zero? TBM? Bf109-E3?

@@AirandGroundinScale Thanks for the replies. I would say the TBM as it can have folded back wings (I see the Trumpeter one is very nicely detailed). Looks like there are a number of detail-up kits out there for it too. Maybe nice to do a detail engine with some cut-away panels? OR the BF109-E3. I see the Eduard one has good engine details. I also recall seeing one manufacturer that had a replaceable front section so you could have engine revealed or closed up. Magnets made the swap fast and possible.

Yes, there are very nice and exotic paint schemes!!! I think these very vibrant colors are pretty difficult to weather and remaind me a lot of Warhammer 40'000 models :)

I gotta be honest. I think you need to blend in the spots on the upper wings more. Its too 'spotty" everything else is great.

Critique is always welcome and I absolutely agree with you. It's like a quilt... :) Lesson learned, that when the oils are still wet, especially the lighter color are more faint. After they are dry they are much more opaque... Thanks for tuning in and leaving a comment!!!

@@markusv311 Never heard or tested another compressor. But I'll use mine until it breaks. Loudness and quality vs. price are ok. But the Sil-Air really seems to be a whispering noise... :)
