Excuse me Mr Cobra, why do some agents hang out of the car window?
@CobraEmergency Жыл бұрын
@@HarryMollyNut If there was an attack, they could fire back out of the window. They can also direct traffic better if needed. You used to see with the Secret Service but not so much anymore.

These convoys always impressed me. I worked in San Diego in the 1990s' and there was a Dan Quail visit to Miramar base there. It was preceded by a column of about 34 motorcycle cops and went straight through the toughest intersections in town! I'm still telling my grandkids about how they went through the toughest intersections in town unimpeded!

You could put 90 percent of these people in an unmarked car and no one would notice

I think they do it for intimidation towards any one trying to attack

Traffic management looks kind of chaotic in NYC!
@BrooklynBeTheBoro6 ай бұрын
It's not, actually. You just gotta do your best to avoid driving anywhere between 8th Ave and Madison Avenue from 59th street down to 23rd. That entire hub is tourist central, and most people who visit NYC have no clue how to move through the city without clogging up traffic.

I absolutely HATED HATED HATED the U.N. General Assembly! I worked right there on 48th St between 1st and 2nd Aves from 2002 until 2009. The constant sirens, and endless traffic interruptions for that week made getting home to Brooklyn a nightmare!

The police cars are Ford and Dodges. The Federal agencies prefer Chevrolet (Suburbans)

To have all those directly in front of the U.N. is just stupid. Just causing unnecessary congestion and clogging up traffic. This needs to be fixed asap.
@DeltaCharlie-t4n Жыл бұрын
The authorities should leave a highway only for the leaders, the VIPs etc... the New Yorkers had to wait for minutes before passing already there are monster traffic jams so that's worse

They don't all leave at the same time, or head out in the same direction. Some of their consulates are right there near the U.N., while others are spread out around Park Ave, and 6th Ave. I worked right there on 48th street between 2nd and 1st Ave, and there were 3 consulate dorms directly across the street from the building where I worked. It was most definitely a headache trying to drive to, and from work during the week that the General Assembly was being held. But that mainly only occured between 10 a.m. and 2 in the afternoon.

@@BrooklynBeTheBoro Well, no one is talking about the diplomatic missions. The U.S. mission to the U.N. is directly across the street on 45th street from the U.N., as is the South Korean mission on the adjacent street. Merely talking about the traffic and control of the traffic, at any given time.

@@chris52209 -yes i do understand that but i think it seems to go over the top sometimes now as in earlier times the security was less even as you say there was hate then. For instance these motorcades have increased and i wonder whether they are more of a status show than for actual protection.
