It's been a while I wanted to do a proper video on the SSG module. It's one of the most crazy patch programmable monster in the Serge system (with the DUSG) and even tho it's been upgraded as the GTO now, I'm sure many are still going to be interested in a deep dive into this more primitive version of the circuit.

I watched the video again. One thing I have noticed from your videos is that you pace them really naturally and peacefully. It’s nice that you stop talking occasionally and listen to the patch with us and let the viewer just bathe in sound. The last pacth was blissfull. And it’s also nice to hear how excited you are to hear a good patch as well. Not all modular channels feel this grounded and positive as yours. Love it, as you said it Stazma!❤️

So great! More resources to understand the classic components of the Serge system are much appreciated. It took me a long time to understand the SSG and how it influences more contemporary modules. I use a Toppobrillo Sport Modulator 2, and it makes so much more sense with the full context of understanding the SSG. That noise from the TKB and comparator interaction is wild (and so far not reproducible on the SM2). But you've got me patching weird percussion on the SM2, so thank you for that!

4:17 you can try to set a longer rise time (turn knob more counterclockwise) and a short fall time (knob to mid position) on your right side of your dual slopes. This should increase the on-duty-cycle of the pulse width, which might help for he hold input. Thanks for this great video tutorial

Yes indeed I was not focused on it on the moment when filming. It’s fun how filming and talking takes a lot of brain space and make you forget basic (well … serge style basic) things hahaha

Awesome overview! Trying to recreate the last patch with Toppobrillo sport modulator2, but doesn't get any result similar to yours, maybe I'm missing something or do you think they differs too much?

I’m curious about having both the sequencer on the Mantra and the TKD. Do you feel that the space is wasted on the Mantra? Do you have patches that use both?

I use both together all the time, I live using two sequencers together, for exemple often one at a different division of the clock or on a odd metric. Also the 8 step on the mantra can be used at audio rate for weird stuff.

More than one sequencers are a good thing. Loads of advantages. And Stazma, I think the whole Serge world, and modular world for that matter, is for the weird stuff!🤘🏿😹❤️

How does the Buchla 245t pair with the SSG? Does it produce anything similar to this? That would be interesting to know :)

Can I replicate this stepped filter sweeping with an lfo and maybe a stages in sample and hold mode?

Yes indeed it’s a classic sample & hold in this case.

I can’t get my GTO to emulate the last percussion patch. Any one tried this?

I don’t have the GTO anymore so can’t try. This might be because the GTO uses better specs parts for the coupler
