Actually I think the bliss is what made all the flowers grow because there are places around the edges that are devoid of plants and even the places in the north that has way too much bliss. Also, I don't remember those plants in the expeditions

@ Yeah. People over-estimate the impact of a nuclear war *greatly* due to US defense policy during the Cold War. Aside from 5-10 years of a nuclear autumn following the exchanges, things would be back to normal fairly quickly as far as the environment was concerned. The ensuing famine caused by the nuclear autumn would make a proper mess of society for a while, and cancer rates would go up significantly, but with the current infrastructure in place it wouldn't take long to get things sorted and a semblance of order would be restored pretty fast.

I have played all the Far Cry games and I can safely say that after 3 they all just really blend together. I really could not tell you what weapons are unique to each game without a Google search, which is bad for a game centered around weapons. It is all part of the Ubification of the franchise.

Not quite true. Those real world examples are more due to the lack of humans to trim back the plants. In far cry new dawn its due to a super bloom which is an event that occoures after excessive amounts of rain fall and other phnomon. Apologise for any bad spelling.

I don't suppose someone could explain to me why Ethanol would be the currency of upgrading? I mean, if I remember my biology lessons, it's pretty lethal to drink ethanol, it's pretty volatile and flammable... I think it can also be used for a disinfectant but why else would it be the preferred item of currency? I see on Wikipedia that it can also be an item for fuel which I suppose makes sense then in terms of vehicle crafting as you'd be able to create vehicles with greater fuel consumption the more you stock pile but I don't see how it could be used to really improve much else. On the other hand, it's also just very likely that I'm over thinking a simple game mechanic that the developers themselves didn't necessarily think over themselves...

Ethanol is the kind of alcohol people drink, and while it is poisonous it takes decades of hard drinking before it starts to affect you. It'll be the least of your worries in an apocalypse where everyone is shooting at you. Also it can be made from food waste and the distilling process would kill any diseases in it making it safer than most natural water while also being full of calories.

Most times, video games ignore reality and make bodies bullet sponges that take a ton of lead to put down, so frankly it's a bit refreshing to shoot some twit in the balls with a circular sawblade shot from a pneumatic crossbow and know he's very ded. I just hope this game has an actual ending, because the FC5 ending was bollocks.

People complaint that the Far Cry games are always the same. I say that the story might suck, the games may be similar, but the gameplay is really fun and addicting. Which has been perfectly fine uptil now, might be time to change it up.

Dunn,o Far Cry 5 was weird with very short (like I just cleared that building and minute later they are spawning in truck on the road) respawn times of enemies and too busy world

I actually prefer FC5s story over 3, 4 and Primal, tought that the religious take was a ballsy move and far more interesting than the family business of 3 and 4, but yeah, constant respawns feel very unatural. My favorite is Blood Dragon, my GOTY 2013.

I'm surpised John managed to do a stash with -1 perception but that's why I think he should do more, just so we can watch him solve those mini puzzles. My only issue so far with this game is you cant have a gun for hire in coop which means no dogo. Also I think the lite rpg stuff is somthing John missed.

yeah, to be honest, I haven't bought a Far Cry game since...Far Cry 3? Far Cry 2.......basically set the tone i think for the rest of the games, maybe Far Cry......something right before that? I don't know.... but yeah, especially now how Ubisoft has basically made nearly every single one of their games the exact same formula, but with a different skin.....it's about as close to the movie "formula" as it gets I think.....

Remarkable that we've had two ostensibly post-apocalyptic AAA games, this and Fallout 76, come out recently that have kind of whiffed the "apocalypse" part. Heck, as Jon says, the place looks even *more* verdant and colourful than before it got nuked. I believe Metro Exodus has done something similar, though I haven't seen much about that myself other than the announcement trailer, years ago, so I won't bring it up further. I remember seeing this review of 76 on here somewhere, can't remember what the guy's name was, but he noted how 76 had done this and speculated that it might be out of a desire on the designers' part to have their cake and eat it too. They want their story to be set in a world where society as we know it has been swept away by a cataclysmic event, and yet have the world itself be left untouched, with none of that nasty stuff like the total destruction of the environment and humanity's near-extinction to get in the way of the fun. He then went on to speculate that maybe this more 'cozy' apocalyptic setting had arisen from the much more unstable times that we are now living in. The ideas of widespread anarchy, environmental collapse and civilisation crashing down around us aren't so far away anymore that we can comfortably work them into our fantasies. Thus, the apocalypse-but-not. Because escapism these days means hoping that the end of the world might not be that bad after all.

Especially considering that only creatures with short life spans can survive taxation zones. Mainly because they don't live long enough to see the down side. I know what you mean but this number system gets around the issue that i have experienced with open world games where they get progressively easyer as you go and playing this game. It gets harder thanks to things like the white blue and purple ranks. And those gold arses who I had to clobber to death with a shovel and a mortar. I apologise for the poor spelling.

there's two approaches to this kind of progression, this is the more "gamey" and honestly lazier approach, it's a crutch for unimaginative game design to have leveled enemies instead of legitimately more complex encounters with different, more powerful enemies, which would be more interesting, cool, fun and potentially "iconic" than this system which just gives us the same enemies with arbitrarily larger health bars.
