Mao Fujita's EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW at the 2023 Verbier Festival

My favorite since Tchaikovsky competition. I stopped my subscription from Carnegie since beginning of Covid, but last spring when Mao came to NY I broke my fears and went to his concert. When he finished to play Liszt I noticed my face was wet .

Just saw Mao Fujita play Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto #2 yesterday with the LA Phil in Disney Hall. He was amazing and got three standing ovations then played an encore and got another standing ovation. Not sure what his technique is for playing the 10th intervals with his little hands but it is very effective nonetheless. He was very expressive and intimate and that piece of music is just amazing, anyway. Bravo.

Too true, and his KZbin of Rachminov #3 is not only spell-binding, but the technique, where needed is volcanic. Fabulous artist.

Mao Fujita is one of the finest pianists in the world. The exclusive interview is a great opportunity but the interviewer who is obvious passionate and certainly knows music talks over almost everything Mao says. It seems he wanted to be interviewed rather than to be the interviewer. I am aware he is a name in music also but the interviewer asks questions. Mao's mastery of English is just wonderful as is his natural love and music and the composers, long past, must watch him from above and say......... WOW! The positioning is also terrible in a television interview would never be allowed. The interviewer stands and would seem eight feet tall while Mao sits who would seem diminutive and we have the impression of the interviewer imperiously interrogating the star. Psychologically, as a television interviewer for a very long time, I can sure you that you minimise what might be elicited with this kind of body language and positioning. But I loved it!

Interviewer was a total pompous insult.. and the nerve of him to basically degrade Fujita's choices of favorite pianists. Fujita is in a world class of his own.

Whoa!!! Another fellow Alexei Sultanov enjoyer!! What a pleasant surprise! I've never heard another pianist mention Sultanov. I love Sultanov, his power and virtuosic creativity is just pure bliss to listen to.

I am very happy that Mao Fujita is also Alexei Sultanov enjoyer, like me. Maybe because great pianist like Fujita recognise great great pianist such as Sultanov is. Annoying interviewer, barrely alow Fujita to say something...
