Fengxian is a genuinely tragic character, fallen into disaster because of her own flaws and mistakes. I can't even hate her, although I think that taking out her anger on her child was deplorable. She suffered a great deal in her life... but she and Lakan were together at the end, for what it's worth.

Jinshi is not a eunuch, he just pretends to be one because, in short, he lost a bet with the Emperor and is supposed to check the loyalty of women in the inner palace towards the emperor, so he drinks a magical tea that temporarily turns him into a eunuch. P.S. This bet is also related to something else, but it's a really strong spoiler, so I'm not writing about it.
