It's interesting that 白酒 means "white liquor", and not "white wine". I think that "white wine" is 白葡萄酒, where 葡萄 means "grape".

Question on this alcohol. On the bottle it's written "moutai" but the correct pronunciation is "maotai". Why is that? According to pinyin I thought it should be said differently.

They're from different phonetic transcription schemes. Wade-Giles phonetic transcription scheme (older): Kweichow Moutai Pinyin phonetic transcription scheme (what you're familiar with): Guìzhōu Máotái

I think it's a similar situation with a Chinese beer which is labelled "Tsingtao". The Chinese characters are 青岛 for which the pinyin is "qīng dǎo". But the brand was created before pinyin became the official transcription, and the label still uses the original transcription.
