Map Completion WORLD RECORD | 6 Hours 48 Minutes | Thief Deadeye | Guild Wars 2

I'll be releasing map completion build for EVERY PROFESSION and doing this map comp run on each, so stay tuned.
World record speedrun for Central Tyria map completion of 6 hours and 48 minutes. World first sub 7 (and also sub 8) hours! The times mentioned in the texts in the video are shifted by about 50 seconds, sorry about that.

I use this build inside instances to get superspeed by dodging with rifle. Another use is when an extra stealth or quickness is needed.

Do you use some tools that assist with map completion?
I am co-developing (and using) Teh's Trails marker pack that is ran by BlishHUD (pathing module). Along with this speedrun we are releasing the new version of it that is significantly faster (as you can see in this video).
What Jade Bot modules should I run?

I watch a lot of long speedruns and with the exception of ridiculously contested ones, like Mario games, this is easily one of the most impressive. To memorize all of that and then execute it almost flawlessly over more than 7 hours is awesome. Respect and a sub. Looking forward to watching more. :)

Glad you like it. Though actually I don´t memorize all of those maps. I use an overlay ( www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/15tzpi8/tehs_trails_v4_map_completion_faster_than_ever/ ) which displays trails and markers. That overlay is not displayed in the video. What is mad is that I spent probably over 300 hours figuring out what best to do at each map and adding it into those markers :D

How do you manage to catch Keg in Wayfrayer hill ? Ive try for 30+ min, standing, jumping, little bit ahead, etc. Always goes through my char, extremly annoying

It´s random if it works or not, although I found that it´s got to do with the age of the map. So best bet is to come in the middle of night or after the world boss fight when a lot of people join, often creating new instances of the map. Sometimes if you go slightly ahead or behind the zone it also might work (if it´s not yet too badly bugged).

Hi, not sure if this is allowed within this category but if you are allowed to have a player 2 then if you get on ther turtle (or certain chairs) they can teleport to waypoints on the current map and you get teleported with them. (routing would probably need to be changed considerably but there is a huge potential for time saves as you can cut out needing to tp back to certain wayoints)

At 1:57:26 (and many other hearts) the NPC has a delay before becoming hostile. If you speak to him during that delay again, you can reset that delay and get another heart progression. In other words: Just spam talk to him as quickly as possible (this one has very tight timing). The skritt artifacts can be bought from the trading post. Hi. Engineer ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4GviH-Phsqqr8U ) and Guardian (Willbender, something like en.gw2skills.net/editor/?PWABwyxzlJkwQCZpBupmWbkW8X1RTA-zRIYR0zfINJCaTCUhSwqziVLYAA-e ) come close to thief, but are extremely unlikely to surpass it. Mesmer might be another contender, but I haven't seen anyone brainstorming a good enough build so far. The rest of the professions are currently well below these 4. Most suffer from lack of mobility (like necro), some suffer from lacking burst on short cooldown, being too complex, or other problems (ranger having to attain pet).

the biggest advice I can give you is download BlishHUD overlay and get markers pack. Then install Teh's Trails. The giant slog will turn into a fun activity. Probably not done in 6hrs the first time, but you should definitely be able to get a time near 12 hours

Was the teleport at 6:27:09 intentional? It doesn't look like it was, but it did look cool. Could that be used to optimize anything in the future?

That was indeed an accident. This is what happens when you have used Shadowstep and swap build template (or just the spell). The Shadow Return will be automatically cast, returning you to the position where you cast Shadowstep (or 1200 units towards the position if you´re too far away). Shadowstep is wonky like that and I know that some speedrunners utilized it for instance during cities speedruns (like here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3PNop5soLune8U )

yea metrica province hearts are incredibly quick. Generally all starting level zones have quite a quick hearts as every action there tends to give a lot of heart progression.

I am using a Teh's Trails marker pack (can be installed through BlishHUD). I've helped to develop that pack which means I've spent hundreds of hours in those maps brainstorming the quickest ways to do hearts, to get from point A to point B, etc. So I have pretty in-depth knowledge of all of Core Tyria. But even then, I wouldn't remember where to go next without the trails.

Not sure what you mean by your question. You almost always get only 188/189 hero challenges (there´s a small chance that you get all, but it´s rare). I always check whenever I enter a new map (on loading screen) whether all hero points there were completed. If they weren´t, I try to spot it during the run through the map. If I fail to spot it, I look it up at the end of the map (which was the case this run at 1:37:20 )

what do you mean? Legendary Armor is the same (in terms of stats) as Ascended one

You could have a preset made and switch to it without having to select stats for each individual piece. (Edit) In the end, it would only save the time required to go to the bank/marketplace. Amazing run. I just do extended key farms when I boost my toons. I get 4-5 Black lion keys per run. Takes a couple hours maybe. I may be wasting my leveled toons . Guild Wars 2 mounts make this so much better. How many tries to get this Epic run ? The more you know. Thanks for sharing this.

some NPCs or interactables in old Core Tyria content is bugged like this. If you mean how do I click so quickly, you have multiple options. In the past I used to remap my mouse scroll to be a left click. Nowadays I use a module in BlishHUD that allows you to spam click when you hold a certain key. Not sure of the exact name of the module now, but if you ask in the Blish discord, you should be able to find the name.

Quite a lot of them have some unique trick that makes you complete them in mere seconds (as you can see in the video). Like repeatedly interacting with something with full inventory, spam talking to some NPC, stacking conditions on dueled enemies etc. But yea, 13 of them can be completed by buying items off of TP.

there are several hearts that are completed literally instantly by buying items off of TP. I am using a mount radial addon from Blish. At times you can see me quickly flicking my mouse to a certain direction to summon a mount.

Shift R for the Raptor mount, shift S for the Skimmer, etc. Customizing your keybinds to something that is easy for you to use and remember is one of the most important things to do as a new player. Before you get used to the default settings and develop muscle memory in the game.

You have 30% chance per map and there are 24 maps that can drop the key, so on average that comes down to about 7.2 keys per map comp. This is according to data from wiki, but my gathered data support this as well :-)

That would be a different category, although could arguably be more interesting, cause there would be various strategies to level up and gain mounts. The issue is, that even this category has speedruns so long, that only a handful of people run it. The new category would likely only see a run from me, noone else would bother doing such speedrun that would likely be 20+ hour long.

Every profession has its pluses and minuses. Thief just happens to be the best in map comp, but can be weaker in other types of content.

Hard to tell tbh. But just the two leggies you can craft can be sold for about 600g profit each. But you still need to farm gifts of battle in WvW and spirit shards.

How do you skip the tutorial?

When you reach level 2 inside the tutorial a waypoint unlocks in the starting zone that you can use to get out.

I've done about 16 map completions sofar but nothing like this .. lol. The Notary trick i knew. You get a lot of Heroics in WvW.
