I just did a valve job on my truck (5.3). It sat for a month with no battery. I finally got it all back together today. It started up after a few seconds of cranking and as expected it ran lousy. The check engine light came on with 4 codes. All were resolved with a few minutes of computer learning. The last one P0107 was because I’d forgotten to plug in the MAS flow sensor. Silly me. Thanks for reminding me.

I got a 2000 gmc sierra I bought it not working for $3,000 from my brother, he was going to sell it for $4,000 not working. He was going to buy a newer truck but didn't have money for down payment so I told him I'd give him $3,000 for his down payment and I keep the Sierra, he agreed, I got someone to repair it, I bought a new head on the passenger side and the dude charged me $600 it worked well and it's been running strong but it had Check engine and the (ABS) and Brake light were on sometimes so I thought I had to change the ABS system. I noticed that the sensor was not plugged

Question do you know what can cause poor acceleration? I have a 03 Avalanche but I can't seem to figure out why. What's weird is that there is no engine light on or any pending codes.

Sorry for the late reply, it could be many different things but have you done a full tune up? Unfortunately its tough to pin point things that are causing the poor acceleration. Possibly the engine could just be getting old as well. A rebuild would fix that. Hope you figure it out

@@603Mechanicvids Yeah, I did a full tune up. It also does have a hard time starting as well. Cold starts are fine but if I let it sit for about a hour or so after it has been running I would have to crank it twice and then it will start. I replaced the pump, fuel regulator and even the injectors. I assume whatever is causing it to not start properly is possibly interfering with the engines performance. I was told it could possibly be the evap canister but I'm lost at this point.

A scan tool can help it's so many things , maybe a dirty throttle body, MAF sensor, map sensor get a code scanner and see what code it throws mine was u0107 and before p0107 both related to map sensor good luck

@@godsgrace4519 I plugged it up at the time and there was no codes. The funny thing is my engine light came on a few weeks ago saying that the system was to lean bank 1 and 2 and it turned out to be the intake gaskets which these vortec engines are known to have vacuum leaks there. Anyways I swapped those out as well as the map sensor, camshaft sensor, knock sensors and I think that did the trick 👍

Sometimes one gets lucky by just replacing a part by code and not running any tests first to verify.

do you feel there's a loss of power? when my fuel pump was going bad it did almost the exact same thing as when the MAP went bad, but I had a huge loss of power as well

well i had a loss of power and my truck would die and not start for 15 min. i was trying to just replace the sensors to try and fix the problem but come to find out it was the fuel pump. which i just changed out the other day.

Good morning I hope you respond back to me and communicate. I have the same truck and my trucks problem is I've been replacing parts so and so. It turns on fine works fine but when the temperature gets halfway it tends to sputter and stall out. Really hard to turn back on unless you let it cool down for a little. The camshaft sensor crankshaft sensor the throttle position sensor the PVC valve the pressure sending unit new catalytic converters new coolant flush new fuel filter oil change and oil filter and so and so and my car still does the same thing it's like it runs out of gas or bogs down. It has oil I don't know can this be a cause of the issue??

Hows it going. Damn that sucka your going through all those issues. It sounds like what my truck did and it was the fuel pump. That fixed the issue for me. Its not to bad of a job. Just remove the bed. Its 6 bolts to remove it.

It helped ever so slightly but it turned out to be the fuel pump. Once I replaced the fuel pump it was running smooth again
