Ok, look for vacuum leaks or intake gasket issue. Also, if your catalytic converter is clogged you'll get MAP issues, but if cat is clogged, engine would barely run. Also by experience I know that on Toyotas if MAP sensor is off a bit it'll cause havoc, not so much on other makes. But before you do anything, check engine vacuum, look for 18 to 22 inches of vacuum. Make sure you're hooked to manifold vacuum port. Good luck and let me know.

@bwrodczek Manifold vacuum is highest at idle. At WOT or wide open throttle the manifold vacuum is very low, almost zero. But remember there's a difference between MAP and manifold vacuum. Thanks for posting...

Definitely a hesitation will cause all kinds of emission issues. If it hesitates on a pre-load condition (foot on brakes and accel at same time) then it's engine related. Regardless, even if you have other issues with trans, the hesitation has to be corrected. Hope that helps.

They're all the same. One wire is 5 volts reference, Ground and signal. It's not dangerous if you flip them. The ECM circuit is protected. You're going to have to experiment a little. Do not inject 12 volts or battery ground on these wires. Center is normally signal. then trial and error the other outer two wires. Good luck.

Voltage from ECU is fine. You need to look at the SPECS for your car's MAP sensor. We have a few publications that deal with that on Amazon, Google-Play and Kindle keyword "Mandy Concepcion". Good luck.

@bwrodczek Be careful with higher pressures. That should no be so. E85 has nothing to do with it. That type of fuel is highly corrosive and damaging to the engine. If your vehicle is E85 certified, which it probably is, then it's fine, but still damaging. Backfiring like that may be due to a tiny leak at the valves not sealing properly. That's one of the issues of running alcohol based fuels. Yes, you may save some money on fuel, but spend it later on repairs. Also look into the Flex-Fuel sensor

@SuperJunito21 It's almost impossible to say. But I don't think it was done to make the car faster. Whoever did it probably tapped the ground line. The sensor might have lost the ground. ID the wires: One is Ground, the 5 volt reference, and signal wires. Don't jump anything until you know what you have. don't even think of jumping battery voltage. You'll fry the ECM. Post back with more information...

Some MAF sensors, not MAPs have 4 wires with a hot element dedicated ground. That's why the extra wire, due to the extra ground.

Engine seems to shift late/ sluggish, worse if extra weight in car & A/C. I thought it was IAC, but today my CEL threw up a P0106 (Map sensor) code. My job is an hr commute in fast, then stop&go traffic each way & its a little scary.. Husband has access to voltage tester and vacuum pump and I want to replace/ repair the right thing! Were a young couple and his car is worse off than mine! (My car: 2000 Toyota Camry, Japan built, 213K, no major issues, except this, and regularly maintained)

Hi all, I am having a strada 1.2 engine 2009 model and it started with injector light on it never goes off. I took it for diagnosis and three of my sensors were not responding, throttle position sensor, air tempareture sensor and tempareture sensor. There is a black line that comes from ECU to supply the power to the sensors is not working. What can I do to fix this problem or should I replace the ECU? HELP PLEASE..

Thank you. My car has a MAP sensor and a single point injection. Do you think with manipulating the MAP sensor i can take the car to run better on e85? I have already higher fuel pressure. It runs good but when it is acellerating and i push the throttle to quick there is a "bang" or two in the air filter. I ihink its going too lean.

Is there a way to determine whether idling problem is due to problem with MAP vs. IAC valve? After hi speed long distance driving, if i hit very slow traffic or I have to come to a red light, car struggles to idle/idles low, & sometimes eventually cuts off. When I turn the car back on, it idles around 800-900 RPMS.

I have a 2000 Toyota echo in 2011 the P0171 engine code . replaced MAF 9/2011 when did not pass smog .Now, Aug 2013 SMOG failed the meas C0% For for 3 yrs. has hesitated in 1st. recently( strong gas smell .) the motor had to be dropped to drop the trans. the air filter replaced a week ago Also , thought the hesitation was due to the clutch yet I less than a month ago new clutch installed. still hesitated My question is the smog issue related to the hesitation in 1st gear manual transmission

i have a 97 eclipse the map sensor is hacked they cut a wire connect to some thing else to dump more fuel in the motor i try to connect it back but the car wont start then what wire u think they cut to do that help!

I have a 2012 Dodge avenger and I'm reading 5 volts at the MAP sensor on two of the wires coming from the computer and on the other one I have a clean ground. I tracked my wires back to the computer and indeed I do have 5 volts on those two pins. Is that normal or does that mean the computer is shorter out inside.?

Hi maf sensor voltage the yellow wire on my 94 camaro indicates 4.3 volts at idle and it decrease at higher rpm just opposite to what's supposed to do .do u have any idea about it?

Ok, you may be seeing the Voltage Reference circuit coming from the ECM. If not, then 4.3 volts is WAY OFF. Two possibilities: The Sensor Ground line is open or the TPS is defective. ADPTraining hi dear I was busy for awhile still running the car without maf sensor I checked the voltage on the yellow wire unplugged from sensor and its 5 volts when I plugged maf sensor yellow wire becomes 4.3 and down on rev .I had a code for map sensor curciut as well high or low resolution .

More pressure more fuel more vacuum less fuel. Pressure increase means vacuum decrease and vise versa

The brake wear sensor is not too costly and easy to replace. It is located at the brake pads. Most pads come with the wear sensor already. Hope that helps.
