Very helpful, so nice to have someone in my local area for this kind of info, I follow a lot of KZbinrs in the Northern Hemisphere and it gets very frustrating at times trying to work out the best time for pruning etc. Thank you David.

It is so good that you are a couple of weeks ahead of me; I am reminded to look at my tiny trident - it is possibly almost ready! It is at an awkward phase, where I am developing a little mame off the side of a bigger tree that I will start to remove later this year. The mame is getting close to refinement, so the challenge will be keeping it alive when the (much bigger) trunk is removed . . .

Nice advice. Thanks. What's your take on aus's chances in the rwc?

Thank you this is so helpful. None of my trees are at that stage yet, but it's very useful info for later! What is the tree in front of the second Japanese maple with scales? I have a monterey cypress which looks the same, and any advice on when to prune and root prune would be gold. I've been making informed guesses so far lol

Any conifer species I wait until spring to root prune. Cedars I wait a bit longer to mid spring. Pruning can be done really anytime however only prune healthy trees.

The colouration on that Japanese maple at the beginning of the video was quite nice. Is that any particular cultivar or just from seed?
@Bonsaiworx Жыл бұрын
Just standard Japanese maple that we have here. They tend to have this multiple colouration when they open in spring and then change to their normal green as they harden off.
