Maple Grove Legion Baseball Falls To Lino Lakes in Pitcher’s Duel

Maple Grove’s Evan O’Dwyer and Lino Lakes’ Tyler Gruye both pitched seven scoreless innings in a American Legion baseball pitcher’s duel, but Lino Lakes came out on top in extra innings, winning 2-1. The defenses and pitchers dominated the game much of the night with no runs scored in the first seven innings. In the top of the eighth, Lino Lakes scored on a wild pitch. Maple Grove answered back in the bottom of the frame with a couple of base hits, followed by a run scoring on an error from an overthrow. Neither team scored in the ninth but an RBI single from Ben Clauson ended up as the game-winning hit in the top of the 10th inning, as Maple Grove couldn’t get anything in the bottom of the tenth.
