Ooomph... lots of improvement, but way not enough. I start to see why this is a grade 8 (although I still think grade 7 is more precise): it is so hard to bring it up tempo.
This is 60bpm, I really desperately want to get it to 68, but already at 60 it gets sloppy. This was one of my better playthroughs, and I already tense up and don't hit every note! And I started with the trio, if I had started from beginning my concentration already would have faded!
I still can't put into words how much fun it is to play this piece. But it is really hard to slow down and pracice at the slow tempo I should. It feels like I have isolated every troublespot for millions of times, and still glitch every third time.
In addition this piece relies a lot on muscle memory, otherwise those fast leaps wouldn't be possible. But this also means that as soon as I get a major glitch or short concentration lack, I a completely thrown out. No chance to find my way back in until the next entry point, which is 8 bars or so later.
So this will take more than 100 additional playthroughs and 1000 isolated sections working until I can play the full piece at 68bpm with only some dropped notes and minor glitches.
I have part A and B at that speed and quite some ease, so I galready got a taste of how the whole thing might feel in the future 🤩
As it is fun, this for sure will be a long term repertoire piece!
Just for now I need a break and only play it for fun, not hard practice anymore... It's the piece I've spent most pracice time on so far, it was do time consuming, it left any time for other pieces to practice.
Almost 3 months! Usually I quit after 2! So I am very proud. But also consider this a huge construction site still 😊
