I think trading Jones is key, because Sammy & Woll are fine for the rest of this season. Call up Hildeby as back-up & ask a good veteran goaltender to PTO's or to sign to see who will push the team forward. Hildeby can always go back down & Woll can be a 40% player while the Veteran plays 60% of games. Good options for next season could be Fleury, Talbot, Reimer, Rittich or Pickard. Heck, maybe even Jack Campbell will be ready to play a decent couple years by September.

No, maby three years ago, but not now. He's an average d-man for the next 3yrs, after that his contract would be an anchor. And the leafs cannot afford even one bad contract with the amount they are paying their top guys, which that contract would be after three years.

The Leafs have big blue line issues. Its a lot more than just needing a Right Shot D. That said, $6.5M at rhat age for such a long term? Can he give the Leafs a solid 3-4 years before regression? If so that might be worth the cost.

His age is the big issue....it will be another Tavares,maybe you get 3 decent years but then his play will start to drop off... if the won 2 cups,yeah its worth it, but if the best they do is win a round its not going to look like a very good deal.

The Leafs "Surprisingly" have a solid Hickey Team with many key players and some great depth. The problem is Chemistry, they need to learn how to work together, play together. And thats a Coaching situation. I like Sheldon Keefe, he just needs to find what makes this team POP.

i think they figured that out recently, they just need a couple more key pieces, not necessarily big, just the right ones. they popped while Rielly was out, he needs the right parter, Boosh isn't really the guy
