In actuality a Rubber Duck does have a function. In programming, Rubber Ducking is when you explain your code problem to a rubber duck (or any inanimate object) and in the process of describing what your code should do versus what it's actually doing, the solution often becomes clear. It's like the duck helps you spot the mismatch!

Yeah. The whole time Harry was sleeping under the stairs they were living in a 4 bedroom house. Master vedroom, guest room and *TWO* rooms for Dudley and his junk. Fun fact: Jason Isaacs (Lucius) thought he'd trip up Daniel Radcliffe since he was just a kid by ad libbing the line "Let us hope Mr. Potter will be around to save the day". However Daniel just popped back with "Don't worry. I will be." The ad libs were so great that they left them in. If you missed it there's an end credit scene.

After Lucius Malfoy's plan exploded, and Dumbledore was laying it all out, Malfoy was just supposed to sort of grumble and walk away. Jason Isaacs felt it wasn't in character for Lucius to just give up, so said to director Chris Columbus "Don't you think there should be a line?" Columbus shrugged and said, "Sure, make something up." No one told Daniel Radcliffe (Harry). So, Isaacs turns to Radcliffe and improv'ed "Let's hope Mr. Potter will always be here to save the day." Jason Isaacs said that a chill went up his spine and all the could think was "Damn, this kid is *good."* Quite an accolade, to win a verbal spar with Professional Evil Brit Jason Isaacs, at *age twelve.* 41:44: Three of the four Houses have one quality they value above all others. Gryffindor is Bravery, Ravenclaw is Intelligence, Slytherin is Ambition. Hufflepuff is "and all the rest," the one who don't stand out enough in any one area to be selected for that House, but are still a good group, even if they have the least focus in the novels and even less in the films. Though the main character of "Fantastic Beasts" was a Hufflepuff, and they have a major character coming up in a later film. There all kinds of quizzes you can find to be sorted into your House, the most official being the Pottermore website. I'm a Ravenclaw.

My youngest daughter graduated from the newest University of California doing exceptionally well. She has a modern diploma from that uni. She then attended the University of Glasgow in Scotland to do her neuroscience master's degree and has a vellum diploma in Latin with a big red wax seal from that uni. All of which to say aside from quite the amazing two diplomas on her office wall, the look of Hogwarts was based on the Uni of Glasgow, so for her it was a lot like studying at Hogwarts. Just to explain the age jumps in each movie: in the UK we have six weeks off of school called the summer holidays. Obviously nobody ages that much through six weeks but due to the nature of movies taking a while to film and time between finishing one film and starting another, they seem to age a lot where technically we should see the ageing throughout the movies during their time school. but again it's pretty hard to film and release and then start another movie to keep up with aging. Basicly they will look like they have aged a year or year and a half in each movie.

This one is my favourite of the films, though Half-Blood Prince is my favourite of the books. Glad you enjoyed it - you also picked up on more than most reactors, which is good to see. The "cafeteria" is the Great Hall, by the way! I'm a Slytherin funnily enough though on some sorting quizzes I come out as Ravenclaw. P.S. although this is _my_ favourite of the films, I think the next film is probably the best film in terms of film-making, cinematography and aesthetics.

An interesting side note that I discovered in my comparative religions class: Mandrake type plants have a very vigorous root system, such that if you dig up the roots, carve them in the shape of a man (basically 2 arms, 2 legs and a body/head) and replant it, it will regrow the bark on the roots so that it looks like it grew that way. That was the source of 'familiars' and homunculi (used for voodoo doll type recipes).

That said - While Slytherin has produced more dark wizards than any other house that still doesn't mean that all Slytherins are evil....and neither does it mean that all dark wizards are Slytherins. All houses have produced dark wizards. Gryffindor is not even the house with the least amount of Dark Wizards - that's actually Hufflepuff with only one known dark wizard who was a Hufflepuff. Both Ravenclaw and Gryffindor however had their fair share of dark wizards, though not nearly as many as Slytherin.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet, and I know you want to know what house you would be in, there's actually a quiz all of us have taken who are really big fans of Harry Potter, it's on the wizard world website I think it's called now. Where you can take three different quizzes to find out what your Petronas is, what your wand is and what house you're in. If it helps at all the houses are known for having two distinct traits, Gryffindor is known for having courage and bravery, slithering is known for having ambition and cunning, Huffpuff is loyal and trustworthy and Ravenclaw are known for being intelligent and creative, I am a Ravenclaw, while I am not Booksmart I am very creative and have other types of wisdom, so it asks you a bunch of questions and it goes a little bit off of your personality, but mainly your values, at least in the books and movies. While slithering might get a bad wrap in the movies and books, when you think about it in terms of the real world, a lot of the traits that the houses value firstly you can have more than one trait belonging to multiple houses, because we're all multifaceted and no one is one thing, we also see this in the books as well with Hermione, the hat doesn't just go off of your interests, if it did she would be in Ravenclaw, but it goes off of your values it's kind of mixed between your interests and your values, but it takes into consideration everything when it looks at you, and then it mainly focuses on your values and beliefs, the reason that so many bad people get sorted into slithering is not because they are bad people, it's because Sin valued pure blood status and would only let in those who were either pure blood or I think also half blood, but he didn't want any muggle bones and that's why he wanted to purge the school of them with his snake, while him and Gryffindor may have been close when they were younger and the best of friends, they're all changed when he wanted to make the school in his eyes more elite by having his house be the poorest of the pure, however a lot of of the bad people who were sorted into that house to have a lot of determination and a lot of ambition, wanting to achieve their goals at any means, but those things can be something that everyone wants, we all want to be ambitious and go for our dreams or be cunning when it comes to going after what we want, so the fact that slithering stands for cunning and ambition is not really a bad thing just like how Gryffindor standing for courage and bravery isn't always a good thing or Ravenclaw is being bright intelligent and creative or Huff Pops being trustworthy and loyal, these are things that all of the houses can connect to because after all it is just one school, but it's just that each house values those things individually, so that's why, when you strip them down to what the traits are you see that it's not really about good or bad, as we learned throughout other movies there are people from other houses who went bad, the reason that majority of the people from slithering go bad, is mainly because of the pure blood status stuff which slithering was also responsible for, but it's more that than it is the ambition and cunning, it's just that again to achieve your goals a lot of people have to be ambitious or cunning. So if you take the quiz and get slithering, just remember it means you're ambitious and cunning it does not mean that you are a bad person, just like with all the other houses no matter what you get it doesn't really define you it just means that those are traits you value.

I just wanted to say that your comment was very rude, even if not intended to be, I am visually impaired, for someone who is not blind or visually impaired, you may not know that I have to use something called speech to text, which basically takes what I say out loud and turns into text, so if I don't know how a word is supposed to be spelt neither does my phone, There are a lot of words that I don't know how to spell correctly, because being visually impaired I learnt words through hearing them rather than spelling them, there are some fictional words I do know how to spell and can write them out, but if I don't know how to spell them I just have to speak to them and hope people can understand what I was trying to say. It can be very frustrating, as I also have to speak my punctuation, I've had a lot of people complain about run-off sentences I have, because they're missing punctuation, so I do try to put in the punctuation by speaking it out. My phone does not have a KZbin compatibility feature for large text, I don't know why but for some reason I can't make the text bigger on KZbin but like I can with other apps, so for comments it's quite small and really hard to edit, but I do my best to try and make my comments make sense, it's just difficult when I don't know how we're supposed to be spelt, and as I'm sure you know when it comes to the world of Harry Potter, there are some really weird spellings for different words, that if you don't know how to spell them can be really difficult to write out. For anyone who hasn't tried to use speech to text before, like I said it speaks out what you say, so if you can imagine not knowing how to spell a word it just writes what it thinks it hears. Hopefully that makes sense and you can understand why I may leave comments that don't make a lot of sense, if you see any other comments like this left by someone, it would be really helpful to rather than write out a rather rude comment, you instead wonder whether or not the person is visually impaired or may not know how to spell something and instead just politely ask, so that someone like me can say yes I am and you can then write another comment and response saying hey just letting you know she didn't know how to spell these words and this is what she meant to say, that way when someone else reads my comment they can then scroll down see your comment writing out the correct spelling and no okay this is what the other comment meant. I used to write at the top of my comments that I was visually impaired, but I don't always remember to do that so I understand the confusion, but in future I would really appreciate it if people didn't leave such nasty comments even if not intended to be interpreted that way,, I get a lot of comments like these and I don't know if people are intentionally being rude or it's just coming across that way, as you can't always know the tone someone meant in a comment, sometimes people are just trying to be funny while other people are actually being rude, I don't know which one you are, but just wanted to let you know that I am visually impaired, that way you can understand where I'm coming from and why my comment might not make sense.

Like I said, I had no.idea that u were visually impaired, & that it caused the problems w/the writing in your original comment. @@lynetteoliva1256 I knew someone with cerebral palsy too who also was like that they could only move their head, I also have a type of cerebral palsy called right Hemiplegia as well, so I understand, all I'm trying to say is I think it's good to just not assume you know, like don't just assume that someone who writes a comment is just lazy, because you never actually know what the reason someone's commenting like that is, I think it's better to wonder about disabilities first before jumping to lazy writing, I get it there might be a lot of people like that, just like how when I read your comment I just assumed that you were probably like one of those other people that leave me a lot of nasty comments like this cause I get a lot of comments that are a lot worse than what you worded it and I guess I just saw the rolling eyes and assumed that you probably were like that too, but I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt or like think before I write my comment back and say okay maybe I'm just misunderstanding the wording of this and maybe they don't mean for it to be intended this way and then I say like I'm sorry if this is coming across wrong but this is how I took what you said and just kind of you know, I think it's better to question first and ask rather than just assume because you never know if someone is disabled or not and I think there's a lot of stereotypes or misrepresentation around disabilities and technology and how we use technology and I think a lot of people can misunderstand or think it's just lazy riding and not jump to the disability option first, maybe that's something you can do in the future, just wonder if the person has a disability before jumping straight to oh they must just be a lazy rider, just like how I really try not to accuse or assume people live writing a nasty comment because I get so many of people like judging me for my writing, that's why I try to right at the top of my comments that I'm officially impaired or that I'm disabled so that people know, it's just that I don't always remember to do that because it's not at the forefront of my mind, a lot of the time I just hope or assume people will work out that I'm disabled but I guess since like you said you just assume it's lazy writing, I guess people don't jump to disability first, but my point is the reason I also kinda lashed out at you was just cause I get a lot of comments like this where people are quite nasty to me about my writing and then I always try and explain but some people are still not understanding about it and yeah it can be really annoying so I thought maybe you were like that and I was just taking the opportunity to educate you and I'm sorry if I called your comment rude it's just like I said how I interpreted it based on all the other comments that I've gotten it was worded quite similarly and like I said when it comes to comments or text messages you have to remember that your intention is different to someone's interpretation of your intention because a lot of the time people will write something intended to just be like taking us like silly or you know but that's not always how someone will interpret it based on their own experiences and yeah so based on my experiences with comment similar to that I just figured it was another one of those comments, but I always try to educate when I get a comment like that which is why I wrote what I did in response, but then when you said that you weren't trying to be rude I was just like more understanding because I think that a lot of people do interpret things differently and again I think that you were probably frustrated or upset because I've had people who like will write a comment while they're drunk in response to my comment or write other things and they always even if they don't intend for it to be rude will not necessarily write a rude comment but write something where there's undertones of like attitude and so I sent that and I'm just a bit on the attack I can see that you are a bit like that as well probably for similar reasons, so I can understand that and all I was trying to do was just take the opportunity to educate and say hey don't just assume it's someone with lazy riding it could be someone who's disabled, so yeah.

Without spoiling things, but it will progressively get more dark; and mature!! Also you need to take the sorting quiz!! To get an accurate answer, I’d recommend the one with all possible questions; and you will see the percentages for each house. There will be one that will have the most affinity towards, and that is your house!! Reason for the percentages of each house, is because you are technically apart of each house’s values; but in the one that you most fit in. I love the one with all possible questions, because it got the house I wanted; and I had more affinity towards!! I could see you as a Hufflepuff or ravenclaw!! So If you had those two affinities, then you could call yourself a huffleclaw or ravenpuff as a hybrid of the two!!

@@terrylandess6072Except there were wizards from other houses that “went bad.” It’s a common prejudice in this magical world. So far, we’ve seen Quirrell who was a Ravenclaw. Lockheed was Ravenclaw too. We’ll see some other bad wizards who are Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. Later books/movies also have some good/neutral Slytherins. Not mentioning names to avoid spoilers, but they exist. I believe JK Rowling said that Slytherin had the highest percentage of Death Eaters, and Hufflepuff the least.

not sure if this is true or not but there was a theory that the reason why Harry didnt tell Dumbledore when he had asked if there was something he wished to tell him was because of Harry's lack of trust in adults. The movies didnt go into detail but before Hogwarts, Harry had a pretty rough time in primary school (grade/middle school) due to his teachers and mainly Dudley and his gang not to mention the useful idiots that were Vernon and Petunia Dursley

In the books, the Sorting Hat sings a song before the sorting ceremony. In the first book that song introduces the values of each house. Roughly summarized from memory: Gryffindor: Courage, Daring and Chivalry Hufflepuff: Loyalty, Kindness and Hard Work Ravenclaw: a keen Mind, Wit and Learning Slytherin: Cunning, Ambition, and the Willingness to use any means necessary to achieve your goals Also, not all Slytherins are evil, but those who are ruthless, selfish or downright mean have a tendency to end up in there, given the qualities valued by Slytherin. There are also many tests online, that can tell you which house you belong to, but they are of course to be taken with a grain of salt. Personally, I'd probably be a Ravenclaw, but who knows what I'd tell the Sorting Hat, if I ever went to Hogwarts ;)

Funny that u say that about the Sorting Hat quizzes. I have taken a few including the extended quiz & the "official" one on the Wizarding World app. All the quizzes I took 2 Houses kept popping up, Hufflepuff & Ravenclaw. I took the extended Sorting Hat quiz to see if I leaned more one way or the other. It came out 50/50 Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw.🙄 Ended up taking the Wizarding World app quiz a couple of times & got for my final time Ravenclaw, that's where I stayed. At least, I consistently bounced between just those 2 Houses.😊

I am in Ravenclaw on every test that I take. Gryffindor is mostly for courageous witches and wizards. Ravenclaw is mostly for wise witches and wizards. Hufflepuff is mostly for loyal witches and wizards Slytherin is for mostly power-seeking witches and wizards. Also, just a head's-up about that idea that Slytherin is for evil witches and wizards, it's canon in the story that Merlin was a Slytherin. There are good witches and wizards who are Slytherin, it's just that it's most likely that evil witches and wizards will be from that house.

The Gryffindors are the classic heroes (but also sometimes get caught up in the glory-seeking aspect of that). They're known for being brave and courageous. Their mascot is a lion. The biggest difference between someone who might be Gryffindor vs. Slytherin is simply a difference in tactics and attitude (Slytherin might try out thinking or using cunning instead of charging headlong into danger) Slytherin might ask, "What's in it for me?" before doing something heroic. Slytherin mascot is, of course, a snake. If you're a Marvel MCU fan... it's like the difference between Thor and Loki. Both can be a little arrogant & want glory - but they go about it a bit different as their strengths lie upon different paths. Ravenclaw are the classic intellectuals... the bookworms, so to speak. They're much more of a by-the-book, follow the rules, kind of individual. Ravenclaw mascot, of course, a raven. Hufflepuff value loyalty and friendship. They're a good mix of "everyone else" at Hogwarts and often get looked down upon because they will take EVERYONE into their ranks. Hufflepuff are also fiercely loyal ... if they've chosen you as a friend - then they will ALWAYS back your play. Hufflepuff is represented by the Badger. While Slytherin gets a bad rap for being "evil" - there have been evil wizards which have come up through the ranks of every single house at Hogwarts. Also keep in mind that there are lots of other schools of magic in the world (Hogwarts is only representative of a school in the United Kingdom) and each of those other schools in different countries have their own houses and are known for their own individual traits/styles.

The houses…. Gryffindors tend to be brave and bold. Hufflepuffs are loyal and hard working. Ravenclaws are intelligent and witty. Slytherins are cunning and ambitious. Sytherin aren’t immediately evil. Evil wizards simply tend to have those qualities. As you can imagine, Hermione was almost sorted into Ravenclaw.

*I'm not gonna lie....when I first saw the basilisk in this movie, I had the same reaction Ron had with Aragog. (side note: I am NOT fearful of snakes or spiders). Also, every time I hear Hermione say "She's a little sensitive" to describe Moaning Myrtle, I always have the same first thought: A LITTLE sensitive?"* *Side note: I always have the thought of "Harry's lucky Fawkes clawed out the Basilisk's eyes, otherwise that rock trick in the tunnel wouldn't have worked at all", combined with "Don't you dare sneeze, Harry"*
