MapleStory Reboot Endgame Bossing Class Tierlist ft. Kraane, Shapaz, Shulk, Witta, Comet

I was going to edit this video down, but it was over a 20gb video and its 3 hours. I'm going to leave this fully unedited and upload it raw.
DISCLAIMERS
Firstly, the placements on this tier list is based on the opinions that we as players had in the call. We would love to hear feedback on placements and more information on classes.
Secondly, do not take placements as an absolute. Some classes such as Buccaneer and Blaze Wizard are prime examples of classes strengths that change rapidly from each patch. The meta constantly shifts, and tier lists should not discourage from picking up a class. At the end of the day, the emphasis on picking up a class should be based upon enjoyment. Eventually every class will be strong or meta.

In this tier list, we cover the placement of classes based upon how well they perform in solo and party bossing content, with a higher emphasis on party. We wanted to make as accurate of a list as possible with the insights of differing endgame players, however these are still mainly based off of opinions we may have.
The list focused on the endgame bossing scene, with the highest potential peak of each class. Meaning at the highest levels of funding, with optimal game play executed by the best players. The criteria in this video we used is current patch only, with only briefly mentioning what changes they get from future patches (2 min gene, 2nd mastery cores, etc). Mobbing and non bossing related content was NOT a factor in rating classes in this tier list.
With me in this video, were some of the strongest endgame players on GMS Reboot. These players are:

The majority of the information us endgame players receive are through player representation on their respective classes. Unfortunately, this means some underplayed or represented classes tend to be difficult to formulate opinions towards. The following classes we decided to list in the "unsure" tier as none of us had a conclusive idea of how the class performs:
Khali: too new of a class.
Illium & Corsair: Not enough information is known about some of these classes
Zero: Despite Zero having endgame representation on Reboot, the difficulty with this class was to quantify how valuable their utility like their extra binds. We were also unsure how much fd they received from 6th job.
For a personal opinion, I would move up Xenon to SS, Aran to S, Dawn Warrior to bottom of S, Shadower slightly down further, and Hayato much higher up to high A. I would also bump up Hero and DS slightly higher, however I'm not sure by how much.

the two classes i play (WA and BaM) feel really well placed, you guys did a good job. One of the most annoying things about wind archer is that the nados just auto prioritize highest HP target, and even though im not end game I hear from a lot of end game WA's that it's really frustrating in Kaling and you end up having to hold her p3 because your nados will go to her either way. Crystal has some really good cheese though in Damien, you can trap the balls in a corner between the wall and the puppet and it takes them a solid 20-30 seconds to move past the dummy to you, and in vhilla she'll target the dummy if she's closer to it than you in solo play. In party play puppet is really just a slow and IED debuff it's not that useful because bosses only target it if they're agrod on the WA player. I think the same thing happens with marksman too but i dont play the class

I do think you are pretty spot on in cadenas placement if it means anything. Cadena is very flashy so a lot does kinda get lost in people not understanding the class. Origin change in the future helps the capping issue but our 2nd mastery is again a single skill and pretty poor overall. Only upside is we have a lot of damage to gain in the future cores.

Illium should be S tier because of the following reasons: 1. Can survive every boss mechanic via flying. 2. has 3 s (without 6th origin), provide 10sec party . 3. great damage - can cast many skills that upgrade his magic attack / damage % (many multipliers like the door, crystaline before the burst) 3. Can micromanage the movements and use doors - free runs for all the hard bosses. 4. Can burst and reach the boss wherever i want too . The damage is up there and the kit is amazing. You can find videos of illiums solo black mage and seren and watch how comfortable and free it is. The only 2 cons are: no self bind and requires to use brain instead of 1 button

For classes like Illium, the 2 major problems we have in attempting to measure how good the class is unable to determine how useful the 10s party is, and no actual comparison in damage. Its impossible to quanity the usefulness from this skill. It looked strong, especially within situations like Kalos, and pre bomb changes made Illium a strong pickup. However with nearly every boss now being more dependent on gauging out mechanics from Kalos, Seren and Kaling and not so much 1hko life outs, we just don't know now how it translates to effective fd from greeding damage within it and therefore it was the first thing we were unsure. The second thing was damage. Saying a class has "good" or "solid" damage is meaningless; its exteemely vague and baseless. There have been snipbits of information about the class that we took into account, but it wasn't enough information. Dehgun had a CKalos run dealing 600t total with a bishop, the rank 1 punchking GMS times were relatively slow, the season 2 KMS punchking times were the bottom 3 slowest (indicating the class is also terrible at culvert, implying very poor burst and overall low damage), and a few other random examples that were the only things we went by. No real context to these such as knowing their gear/setup to normalize and estimate off of, no excessive bossing content produced, no clue as to how well those players piloted their class, etc. As there is no major representation in KMS and let alone GMS Reboot, we decided to be objective and not rank the class.

Sorry for the late response, as I saw from my own experiment. Best dojo player is an Illium (Eahen or something like that). I don’t know if it indicates about damage but alot of my guildies say that Illium is juicy for nkalos and bm.

@@nullaidan6518 The nkalos benefit of Illium was the 10s that was extremely valuable when bombs stacked and aggro'd on players. However, with recent changes making bombs spread out and having Kalos be more dpm/cleansing oriented with less threats of 1hko's, the classes benefit in that boss is gone. The class is just a dps in kalos parties now. What server is that best dojo runner in? I follow dojo very closely on a lot of servers and I also usually score pretty high on gms reboot weekly too and I'm aware of what the strongest classes are for dojo, and I haven't seen an Illium perform before.

Pathfindesr Obsidian Barrier gives allies who are standing in it gain the effects of our Ancient Curse debuff, which gives 4% CD per stack, and stacks up to five times You usually have this stacked up all the time anyway by using our main attack macro, as such allies inside of Obsidian Barrier get 20% Crit Damage. also crit dmg from sharp eyes 15 crit dmg base 16 crit dmg with decent combat orders 36% crit dmg party support

In my opinion, Corsiar is low A tier based on how you guys were ranking classes. Reasons for this: - Not the strongest burst in the world, but packs a punch. Definitely excels as a dpm class. 3-minute burst rotation with a decent 90s burst. - Fantastic as a "hit and run" class as Brain Scrambler does a lot of damage with little casting delay. Really easy to engage, get a shot off and immediately run away (great for Kalos and Perils) - 6th job mostly relies on sticking to the boss long enough to activate the extra damage from rapid fire. Not the greatest 6th job boost. - Has an on-demand i-frame with essentially no casting animation on a 30s CD. It's almost as OP as Hero's World Reaver. - Most of it's summons rely on bosses being rather immobile to be effective. Not great against bosses like Kalos and Seren. Have to reposition paratargetting a lot. - Full uptime party buff (pirate flag) for decent party damage boost. - Need further progression to comment on what debuffs the summons block in end-game bosses. Afaik it's not much. Great for mid-game though. - Summon management can be tough for most people, to confirm everything is up and targetting properly. I think most people are turned away from the class because managing this properly can be taxing. Great damage when everything is up and working though. Great list otherwise, lot of good thoughts being shared about the classes.

281 Sair main - agreed, great analysis of the points. I'd also add great mobility through Wings and Recoil Shot allowing for precise positioning. Also, even though everyone is getting this ability pretty soon, as it currently stands, Sair can afk farm in pretty much all areas up until Arteria, and even Arteria is minimal effort.

Hi, I know that the BT rework hasn’t been live for too long and I haven’t really looked into the changes much but I was wondering what your opinion was on her after the rework?

Since I actually boss with a BT/Lynn, I have a pretty good idea on how the class performs imo. I think in 6 man party settings, the class is very underwhelming. I think their total dmg output is awful because if they want to give a strong dps their awakening buff, they themselves do not receive bishops benediction which gimps their damage very heavily. In general, I think the class is an underperformer, but if you make a comp specifically built around playing around a Lynn with a hypercarry dps (DS is a very good one for this), I think the class can make it work and will perform well, but its only within niche parties and bosses that the class will outperform the average DPS or support imo.

Unfortunately despite currently bossing with a BT main, I hardly know how Lynn performs as it hasn't arrived on GMS yet. As for BW, they're very strong now however they get pretty bad changes (origin nerfs, worst 2nd mastery in the game) for Dreamer patch... I would just pick whichever you find more fun, I don't think either will be a top pick anymore in Dreamer but they will still be a valued support for parties.

i take it this is in a pt scenario only kind of list so i am not sure why even mention this off the get go, but starting off with top of S "while accounting for solo" for kanna in 2024 is wild. it isnt really a controversial topic either nor is it that deep considering how fast it was concluded, there just seems to be a massive confusion and misinformation about the class, right now the class is split into 2 different classes: 1. party bossing - stackable party FD, 15s bind, small area boss dmg% bonus if you still bother and *+25% self FD* - will stay top tier class to have in a party until domain FD is removed (FD stacking seems to be the theme of this list so it just follows the meta). i know my BAs and my party members BAs in bosses such as CKalos, NKaling and XSeren and i am not sure which one of you said it however i can vouch for the fact that i am not only doing less than the main DPSers of the party but also closing in on getting x2 gapped in terms of dmg dealt, equaling to the shade in my pt (p3 NKaling is an exception because you can constantly hit 3 targets as the holder). regarding the blue/green dotting matter, i see a lot of people grossly overestimate how hard it actually is to hit 5%-10% with 6th job considering BTs do that without 6th job this late into our HEXA progression, so i am surprised to see endgame players echo that as well. 2. solo bossing - all of the above, much more emphasis on lack of QOL during solo *and -25% self FD* - self explanatory, if +25% FD in a party does not put it in the same spot as the top DPSers (it does not) or close to, as an endgame player you should realize how it translates to solo bossing considering its kit (and this is with the 5% FD and 332 m.att from haku). this is irrelevant to the list but this was brought up in the video. i never look at these types of videos due to bias/misinformation and just the fact that not 1 person knows it all regarding all the different classes when it comes to bossing, but pretty disappointing that even at this level of the game the player takes regarding the class completely miss the mark despite having so much info out there already, especially when it also comes from someone who used to main this class in the past. or maybe i got baited. ^ least butthurt kanna in GMS yapping

nobody said it is competing in damage with TOP dpsers, we said it is CAPABLE of doing the same if not more than other dpsers in this game, which is objectively true based on examples from parties with top kannas other than yours (though I have no clue why you doing the same damage as your shade somehow doesnt count, whatever your point was with that). beyond that, we're simply not misinformed; we know exactly what support capabilities the class offers, and we are well aware of the fact that the class is lacking in QOL. we also acknowledged that it is not great in solo. regardless, these conclusions have lead us to placing the class at S tier because we placed heavier emphasis on party bossing rather than solo bossing. if you can elaborate on what 'misinformation' we were working with i would like to hear, other than a baseless argument about whether or not you do more or less damage than other dpsers.

@@imbecile5604 i was under the assumption it was generally agreed upon that shades are just not good damage dealers in parties, so i simply shared that along with my position in terms of dmg dealing in my party comp despite having +25% self FD (admittingly more influenced by XSeren where my class shines the most, obviously when we specifically look at CKalos things go against my favor). i brought that whole point up because the same was done for the majority of the discussion about the class in the video, hope that clears that up. as for the bias/misinformation part of my comment, this referred to previous tierlists ive seen/heard about where in this one, as you said, the class was mostly looked at in a party scenario only which as i mentioned previously is top tier in said context (S tier in this list because of solo bossing i assume in which case stands among NL, bucc, DA, cadena, shadower and hayato somehow). but if you want me to point something out, it can be regarding cadena and having a passive buff that is "similar to kanna per pt member". what is being referred to here is the passive skill known as cheap shot where per DEBUFF that is on the boss the cadena gains +10% crit damage and it counts up to 10 debuffs.

@@bamba_okhand apologies regarding the misinfo for cadena, we did say a few times that we're not too familiar with its kit / 6th job benefits / strength, but felt that based on some public performance metrics available that we could put it there. cadena wont be the only one; there are several other classes where we probably got some minor information incorrect. however, with regards to the original comment topic, kanna is not one of them. we are well aware of the exact details regarding kannas support and have many metrics available for performance in solo and party bossing. saying that we got information incorrect regarding cadena and then using that as leverage to say our stance on kanna is misinformed does not make for a strong position, and im currently unsure about what your position is with kanna. are you upset with where we positioned it because you think the solo capabilities are far too low that it outweighs the desirability for a kanna in a party? we seem to be on the same page that the party value of a kanna is top tier, and that the solo capabilities are bottom tier

Going to sumise how this is generally accurate for Kanna: This is an endgame specific list for bossing. Solo and party is both considered, however there party has much more emphasis since all relevant endgame content now is done via party play (Chaos Kalos, Extreme Seren, Extreme Black Mage, Kaling of all tiers). The argument for as to why Kanna is always strong in endgame tierlists despite being weaker in solo relative to other classes is because there is no relevant solo bossing right now. A class thats weaker at solo bossing will clear through weekly set of CTene and other bosses will at best take an extra burst longer in the endgame, which isn't significant. There is absolutely no reason to hype up solo bossing at the endgame. It may be fun to solo boss, but there are absolutely no bosses in this game right now that gives an inherrent advantage in progression that is achievable that Kanna cannot; everyone clears the same content regardless. This ISN'T true for party content; CKalos and the extremes/Kaling gives massive boosts in prog for gear and otherwise unobtainable items by yourself. The argument is you would save 10-15 mins each week because you don't kill Darknell and Gloom as fast as a solo bosser. Kanna is a best in slot pickup class for 3 out of the 4 endgame bosses, only Kaling its just generally a good class and not a BiS for endgame meta class. Its very telling when Kraanes party drops an endgame DB with Ror5 for a 0 dmg Kanna farmer to clear better and easier for their XSeren runs. Just fyi no one is stating Kanna is OP in its own right. I wouldn't think so, and I believe that class deserves a ton of QoL and changes. However, the biggest weakness to that class is lampshaded by the fact it has no direct translation to slower prog because of the solo being weaker, whilst being mandatory enough for first clears and is again, a BiS party member for 3 of the 4 endgame bosses right now (Black Mage both diff, Seren any diff, Kalos all diff), something that does give an inherrent advantage to progression non support classes do not have the luxury for.

Also, your damage being gapped in your party is because you have Grunde (one of the best classes, and one of the best supports) with 4 supports (you on Kanna, Bishop, Newie DW, Nicks Shade). Im sure Allens dmg just gaps everyone in general

So every class in the game I have personally seen quantifiable evidence to judge them on how strong they are and whether I can recommend them or not. A lot of opinions on classes are just based around fact. Khali on the other hand there isn't any "hard proof" of the classes performance; the class is too new so no one strong exists yet to compare between with. So any opinion I have on Khali is subjective, not objective. That being said, I think Khali would go high A in the next tierlist.

NL gets some really good changes post Dreamer, def one of the best users after the patch. Origin gets massive buffs, 2nd mastery is very strong, their burst gets even better

Two other groups Ereklo and Duky made their own tierlists as well with their own endgame groups, and majority of the classes on all 3 tierlists were very similar. Xenon not being SS is definitely a misplacement. I understand why Xerhu stopped fighting for it, but it's just one of the premiere DPS classes at the moment. I also feel like the fact that it just gets more from potential and flames than other classes is slept on.

Hero has slightly better numbers at the moment (I agree that Hero is stronger and mafh is just an all around cracked player that most classes don't have) and it's nice how they actually do some damage off burst in solo bossing, but numbers come and go. Your kit is forever. DS will always have glide, chaos lock, minor healing, and more "parry" i-frames. That doesn't show up in a list like this because Hero has enough utility that dying is legitimately a skill issue, but it matters a lot when you're the one actually playing the class. And a big pro with DS post dreamer is that beyond level 1 Sol Janus is likely not worth it because Odium, Arteria, and Carcion TP farming is good enough (Shang TP farming isn't really worth it now that potion pot is fixed) and still gets you 15-16k mobs an hour. 99.99% of the game's population will not max sixth job within 2 years. That's just directly a lot more damage for anybody who isn't doing multiple waps a day on average.

i am DW main and they are right. Their off burst is ASS. Being a 3 minute burst class is also not very good. Our 90 sec burst is also very meh. Our 40 sec burst sometimes needed to be front loaded, resulting in damage loss. Its an overhyped class that suffers Buc syndrome. If it wasn't for true sight debuff, i would've dropped this class in a heart beat and just main Hero.

The craziest part of a lot of meta burst classes are they also hold top tier solo/full rot damage. If the question is what classes have the highest full rotations and are therefore the best solo bossing, the same contenders are top tier for solo as they are party. NW, Kain, Hero, DS are all top tier party bossers and also the best solo bossers from insanely high base damage. They match the solo pace times as "strong traditional solo bossers." If the question is what classes deal the highest damage exclusively off burst and in chip damage, the best are F/P, Kaiser, DA, Dark Knight, Luminous (hypothetically).

The problem is that it's not really a "burst meta". The game just inherently favors burst because limited duration party support and binds exist. So long as either of those things are relevant, getting your damage out relatively quickly is just stronger. In fact, the burst meta has pretty heavily shifted in that getting your damage out in 15 seconds instead of 40 isn't actually preferred anymore. Obviously 15 second bursts play nicer with ROR, but between origin, gene i-frame, groggy, general class survivability tools, and a general boss design philosophy shift away from lives towards shared resources (eg seren gauge and Kaling gauge balance), sticking to a boss for 40 seconds straight isn't really a problem. Solo bossing is a bit different which makes DPM more relevant, but as Xerhu said, the burst classes don't really lose anything damage wise by being bursty. Unless you're Shapaz who overbursts literally everything you'd even think about soloing I guess, but that's very much so suffering from success.

@@Mezmorizorz Well wouldn't you also consider 30-40 seconds to be 'burst'? That's 1/3 distribution of a 2 minute class and 1/4 of a 3 minute class, and many burst buffs are 40 seconds. You're right that sticking to class for 40 seconds isn't a problem, that's precisely why it is still a burst meta that favors classes with extreme 30 second burst. Some of the dpm classes have a very difficult time sticking to the boss as well. Shadower for example has great 15 second origin burst now, but it still can't do great 40 second bursts let alone dpm on the boss constantly.

The top DA y'all were talking about only goes 30 in Kalos because even if you manage to perfectly parry and dodge the attacks Kalos himself dishes out, you're bound to take hits from systems that combo into your death. BUT he's still using 29 in pretty much every other boss, even xseren and hkaling. It's pretty much just a Kalos issue but 30 frenzy has pretty insane uptime in bosses like Kalos which makes up for it.

It's funny Blaster is always rated that low, lower than other 2min dpm classes like BM and Kaiser when Blaster is prolly one of the highest dpm output classes, but i guess if you factor in the bug then yeah blaster is the worst class in the game lol, should be getting fixed next month tho, surely this time!

Unironically that was the major reason why Blaster was placed where it was. Cont is just perm bugged on that class right now, which heavily deflates the class (perm -15fd below where it should be). That being said, I don't think the class is stronger than Kaiser even without it bugged, but it'll def be higher than where it is once its fixed

Not sure if there were event buffs at that time I think there was. What happened post newage before 6th job that gave such a boost I can't remember? I actually think Blaster and Kaiser 6th job is very similar, we both have mid dmg burst origins and we both get our main attacks mastery boosted.

@@CDLightt Post newage b4 6th came level formula changes So if you were 400 b/s, you got a 1.1x fd boost if it was kept same level I would imagine blasters similar to Kaiser, but I think its still slightly below in performance assuming they arent bugged Looking forward to seeing them perform after they get ring bug fixes though

Lara is very DPM oriented in their dmg distribution yes, however their overall damage is god awful. She does not perform in any content on Maple, pretty much all of GMS and KMS players are in unanimous agreement the class is shit. Also, what you said is not true. Just off the top of my head Kaiser and Kinesis have full summons hitting whilst origin is going off.

I think most classes depend on the player, I main a Bucc and don’t think it’s over hyped but not the best end game class, not many people play it in reg,I actually think it’s overlooked in new age and I like that many people don’t play it, it’s a great jack of all trades which I love. It’s got 2 great burst cycles between lighting & howling if you perform them correctly. If you time everything right you have a steady stream of solid DPM, mobility & our origin is great for DPS & DPM since it continues afterwards for 30 seconds, the new summer patch even is going to make it even better. I agree Buc is a mid A tier class overall, for party & soloing. But I do think We get a lot of benefits people overlook or don’t know about like 100% crit rate against bosses even if our stat window doesn’t show it because of passive skills. Nice vid, just think each class can be great depending on play style. For example you have BM low but I’ve seen BM’s play different from the meta of how most BM guides say to play the class & they do better by playing to their play style.

Don't know anything about endgame, but Zero should be S or top A just for support I think. They have: 1. 50% IED debuff 2. resettable bind that can add an extra 12secs of bind if done correctly. 3. +1 atk speed and +20 att toggle buff The bind especially is extremely high value because 12 seconds is A LOT of time for extra party burst. For themselves, Zero also just has crazy survivability with 2 hp bars, 2 s, 1 random + damage reduction passive, no CD blink making it the only warrior with better or same mobility than Kaiser, ...and probably more crazy shit I don't know about. Really a shame cuz no one plays it.

Just because we weren't too sure, we felt it was better safe than sorry and just place it in a tier to show we weren't confident on how it performs

The class is very desirable so the ranking is justified. The class is also weaker than bishop, so its lower than bishop.

Just because the support kit is similar, does not mean they are close to each other. Thats like saying a random person imitating michael jordan can be comparable to michael jordan himself. culvert isn't the worst representation of how strong a class is at the endgame, but you are drawing false equivalences by comparing their culverts and using it as an explanation for how good these classes are because you are not accounting for other variables (gear differences, 6th job progression differences). The gear difference and 6th job progression difference is significant between these 2 players, inevitably leading mafhwhales culvert to be relatively higher than yuels. If they had comparable progress in 6th job and had similar gear with regards to min maxing, pitched boss set, and legacy equips, you would definitely see a higher culvert from yuel. barring these facts, kain performs significantly better in meta party bossing than demon slayer, of which party bossing was the heavier emphasis of the class placements. Kain is a 3 minute archer (archers get extra value out of any critical rate related support) with an insane burst, making them a prime pick for the current meta, whereas demon slayer often has no choice but to delay their burst by a minute because they're a 2 minute class. the only thing demon slayer has over kain is that it is arguably top 2 for solo bossing, though kain is not incredibly far off of that edit: for the record yuel got 63k roughly a month ago, so he was at even less 6th job fragments than he was by the end of identisk
