Kain main here. Kain is the best class I’ve played, out of nearly half the roster. We have a shitload of burst that only takes about 12-15 seconds to pull off, and you’re framed for like 3-4 of it. Origin hits pretty hard initially and then results in a crapload of lines for the following 20 seconds. On top of amazing damage we have good mobility with the resettable, Omni directional dash(great mobility if there’s platforms to rope lift to) and having built in Iframe on one of our burst skills is wonderful, Thanatos also locks you in place mid air, so phase 2 Damien you get off 1/4 of your total burst guaranteed. Dedicated frame skill that if used right is available basically every time you need it. On top of great and simple burst(it really is super simple, despite how it sounds) we also have good dps in between burst. Machining that dps is a little bit of work, but you can really get away with just kinda button mashing so long as ur managing your gauge. Our main burst skills are also fairly potent and all on 90s CD, vicious shot is a 2m CD and our big burst is a 3 minute CD. So, while not seamlessly, we can fit into 90 second parties, 2 min parties, and 3 minute parties pretty well. Overall main is great. 9.5/10 class training on large maps has to be active, that’s the only down side. I think everyone should play kain at least as a bossing mule, strong class without much funding. Look forward to seeing you in the discord

Have you played much Pathfinder? How do they compare?

@@kjs6096 I have not played pathfinder. But from what I understand they’re not that great for burst output, but have better simpler dpm and much less active grinding.

I just started Maple and decided to main Kain. Super fun class so far. I leveled some other characters for Links but always want to go back to my Kain. The damage and skills are so satisfying and it's not a brain dead class. Thanks for the guide!

For burst unseen sniper can be done right away and you don't need to hold. When you get 6th job after fatal blitz you would want to do possessed falling dust then poison needle before 2nd part of thanatos descent

i think thanatos decen is somewhat different from god wrath cause when u re-activate thanatos early, the extra attack (small arrow) buff still in effect while with hoyoung, if you re-activate too early, you dont get extra attack (small hand punching down) :-? please excuse my bad english and explaination

Can someone break down the differences of Kain vs Hoyoung? I have a hoyoung 280 and I'm kind of tired of the long prep time for burst - is this different for kain?

Hoyoung relies a lot more on placing a bunch of summons, and buffs like clones and butterflies. Kain is moreso a charge-heavy class, relying on swapping to Possession to get stronger hits out, and in general just has WAY less mobility. Burst-wise I believe Kain has less prep time, only really needing to prepare Possess charges, Grip of Agony stacks, and buffs before using all your big beam skills and Execute skills

Assuming you're excluding mercedes because of their odd combo system and cycling CDs, I'd argue either Shade (decent mobbing, supportive fun in bosses), or Luminous (great mobbing, fairly straightforward with not much to remember or keep track of besides some 5ths I believe) Recommendations vary vastly depending on what playstyle you prefer, and with Hero classes specifically they all have systems with slight learning curves
