My father worked for the Army map service in the late 60's. To this day he won't talk about his work there, as satellites were top secret back then.

He was sworn to secrecy because all that globe is bs. He needed a paycheck, and I don't fault him at all. My dad did the same but we got him to talk before he died. Damn shame the globe is programmed....

Thanks for publishing this video! I have long been interested in map-making ever since I saw my first National Geographic 🗺special as a child and especially in my later life after reading the story of the clockmaker 🕰 Harrison in the book Longitude. 🌍 There are so few resources describing mapmaking 🌏 available for the general public. I wonder how much of this process remains the same today? I think that satellites 🛰 and computers 📡 must have transformed the field dramatically! 🗺 🗾🌍🌐🌏🌎
