You might try helping to clean the water in the pool by using biochar, which you absolutely can create with all the biomass on your estate. Once created, by burning organic material in an oxygen starved environment (pyrolysis), you crush it up, place it in a mesh bag and submerge it under the water. It absorbs the excess nutrients, like the charcoal filter in an aquarium. Then the charged biochar makes an excellent fertilizer, sequestering the carbon that was causing the cloudiness in the pool. Full circle sustainability!

So happy to have been led to your Awesome home, Mapperton Manor. There are so many interesting moments in each vlog, I so enjoy watching how you and Luke come about maneuvering the daily work with challenges that come up from one moment to the next. In this video you’re busy refurbishing an old bathtub. Somehow I missed the products you are using to remove stains. Could you kindly mention what worked for you…I too am in desperate need to remove bath stains… I’m grateful in advance for your efforts. I was blessed to live in Surrey, England for 14 years. The Royal Horticultural Society, Wisley Gardens was ‘a hop and a skip’ from my house. There I learnt so much about gardening , visiting Wisley nearly every free moment, whilst I ran a Bed and Breakfast. Life changed and I now live in Washington State, USA. So looking forward to seeing the fairy 🧚🏻♂️ cottage🧚♀️ garden in full bloom. ✨

I love that Julie jumps in and gets dirty to do these job. When I bought my house I could only afford a fixer upper. Friends taught me how to do almost everything from drywalling to electrical. So thankful to them for doing so. This was way before there was the internet to learn how. There is a feeling of empowerment when women do this kind of work when they were not raised doing them. Julie makes me smile because she reminds me of how enthusiastic and proud I was to do this stuff.

My friend has a huge koipond that is absolutely clear. He has flowerboxes filled with small stones with beautiful flowers but also veggies planted in the stones. He filters the water of the pond through these flowerboxes continuously. Each box then spouts back into the pond looking like water features. Each box has a tap that can be shut in case you need to to some maintenance. The flowers grow like crazy and the water is filtered by the roots. Standing water is the problem. Your root system just need circulation added. Good luck.

It might be too late but if not, consider adding insulation in the stud wall. It will deaden the sound between the two bathrooms. Sound transfer could be a bit awkward if it is two couples renting the cottage.
@littleskittles77332 жыл бұрын
With a shared window between the main and en-suite bathrooms, I don't think there is any hope of soundproofing between those two rooms...unless they install a wall break on the window sill.

Julie, you left me hanging on the bathroom updates. I am dying to know what you guys did with the big window where the shower is going to be. Since you're creating 2 rooms where one existed, you need to bisect that window, don't you? Otherwise, all of the bathroom "goings-on" will be heard and potentially seen by those on the other side of the wall. This is really gnawing at my brain!
