The nineteenth Mapping Ancient Africa seminar was delivered by Solène Boisard (University Montreal). Solène introduced her work linking modelling of past climate conditions with archaeological records in north-western African. She was able to show consistent patterns in the reconstructions of past climate (temperature and precipitation) from both mechanistic models and on the basis of archaeological evidence. These climate changes were then shown to link with changes in stone tool technology (Middle Stone Age to Late Stone Age).
