Hunter College President, Ann Kirschner presents the Roosevelt House series "Mapping the Future of Higher Ed," presented by Hunter College and Macaulay Honors College. The second program in the series features Ben Wildavsky, author of, "The Career Arts: Making the Most of College, Credentials & Connections," in conversation with Daphne Kis, CEO of WorldQuant University. Welcoming remarks by Hunter College President Ann Kirschner.
Ben Wildavsky is a veteran higher education writer, strategist, speaker, and podcast host. He is working on a book for Princeton University Press on the ideal combination of broad and targeted education, skills, and social capital needed for career success. He spent many years as a journalist with publications in U.S. News & World Report, National Journal, the Atlantic, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and Foreign Policy. He is the author of The Great Brain Race: How Global Universities Are Reshaping the World (Princeton University Press, 2010). In addition, he has co-edited books on the reinvention of higher education (Harvard Education Press, 2011) and standardized testing and college admissions (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2018).
Daphne Kis is the CEO of WorldQuant University (WQU), a not-for-profit whose mission is to make advanced, quality education accessible to capable students everywhere by leveraging technology at scale to deliver free online programs. WQU offers two programs in the data sciences - an instructor-guided Master’s degree program in Financial Engineering and an intensive, two-unit, 16-week module in Applied Data Science. Helping bridge the gap between talent and opportunity, WQU currently serves nearly 4,000 student in over 90 countries. As a passionate entrepreneur, she has been at the forefront of identifying, chronicling, and transforming trends in technology, health, education, and business for decades.
