I use to admire Liz Cheney for standing for the constitution. However, listening to some of her interviews I sense a hidden agenda to run for President and I also believe she’s heavily advised by her father, Dick Cheney. The former Vise President advise can be a little risky for the United States, which we have seen in the past.
@GingerAndZest

...And Cheney SHOULD run for President because she IS the candidate that the country and party need that Trumpis too self- centered to be. You can respect anyone regardless of their politics if they speak the truth, hold honor above all else and maintain their personal integrity. There aren't many though who actually accomplish all three all the time. Most fall short quite often in one way or another. 10 years ago Liz said she would never compromise when our freedom was at stake. Little did she know at the time that is was and that she would be the frontrunner carrying the banner at a very high cost. I'm proud of her for holding the line and not giving up on the country even when her party gave up on her. I'd like to see something happen that shakes up the Wyoming Republicans so that they see their own errors and get her back in the Senate where she can help straighten out the mess we're in. Then on the the Whitehouse.

@Chugwater_Cowboy
@Chugwater_Cowboy 9 ай бұрын
@@brendanperry6429 I agree that she needs to run, but I disagree with your statement about timing. While the timing is right to have a better candidate running, the timing is not right for a Cheney win. Without the endorcement of the republican party she will be a dark horse candidate and she knows this. She needs to rally her troops and see if she can either gain a Republican base or switch parties to the Democrate side. Honestly though, I don't see either of those happening. Nor do I see a strong independent base for her. This country just doesn't do well with more than two candidates opposing each other. The 3rd candidate always splits the vote and no one gets enough to claim a victory. It might be different if we used the popular vote instead of the electoral college.

It sure would be great to see Liz Cheney outline in some detail precisely how she would implement her so called conservative principles. For example, how would she deal with the federal budget and deficits .... specifics, not just generalities. What spending is she going to reduce, what government departments and programs eliminated. What is she going to do about taxes and especially corporate taxes and taxes on the big income classes. For example, how is she going to solve immigration and border issues .... specifics, not generalities and at what cost. For example, deregulation ..... what is specifically going to be deregulated and how. For example, healthcare ... again specifics, not generalities. That is the problem with the GOP and conservatives. They are all big talkers in terms of generalities ...but they actually have zero specifics or realities or plans of what they would actually do to implement their so called conservative principles and essentially zero policies. It reminds me of that Texas republican who ran for president some years ago (forget his name now) who stated he would eliminate 3 whole federal government departments to balance the budget. He was asked by the media ... which government departments. His first reply was " I wold eliminate Education and Commerce, and I just forget the 3rd off hand right now". At his next news conference, they asked him again .. well what is that 3rd department you would eliminate? His reply was "Energy". What a total moron this GOP presidential candidate was. Remember that he was from Texas and if he eliminated the Department of Energy, the citizens of Texas would tar and feather him and ride him on a rail right out of the state of Texas. That is the point ..... conservatives are all big talkers .... but they actually have zero specifics, plans, or policies that they could actually implement to achieve the big talk and policies they claim they have and support.

In a stirring tale of political introspection, I found myself engrossed in "Oath And Honor," a book gifted by my wife, penned by none other than Miss Cheney. As a stalwart Republican with a myriad of ideological disparities with the Cheney clan, I approached the text with a fervent desire to comprehend the perspective of my conservative brethren. What unfolded within those pages was not merely a narrative; it was a harrowing depiction of unchecked power and the erosion of moral integrity. Though never an ardent admirer of Miss Cheney, the revelations within the book left me aghast at the potential for tyranny that festers within the corridors of power. Miss Cheney's portrayal of a leader devoid of moral compass, yet adept at marshaling support through the propagation of fear and hatred, sent shivers down my spine. It was a stark reminder that in our current political landscape, logic often takes a backseat to the tumultuous currents of demagoguery. In a world where the very essence of democracy teeters on the brink, "Oath And Honor" serves as a clarion call to all who cherish the principles of justice and integrity. It beckons us to remain vigilant against the encroachment of tyranny and to uphold the sanctity of our democratic institutions. For if we fail to heed the lessons of history, we risk surrendering our freedoms to the whims of those who would exploit them for their own gain. As I closed the final chapter, I was left with a profound sense of responsibility. It is incumbent upon each of us, regardless of political affiliation, to safeguard the values upon which our nation was founded. For in the absence of vigilance, the specter of tyranny looms ever closer, casting a shadow over the very essence of our democracy.

I am an independent (not Independent Party member but a truly independent voter) and this being able to select *only* from Column R or Column D or not at all with no crossing over, is really getting to me. Over the decades I have been happy to make my choice from the middle and wish I could again. You know, there actually have been some Republican ideas & candidates, some Democrat ideas & candidates, and some "Other" ideas & candidates from "outside" the party lines that were valid and good. Yup...

I look forward to reading Liz Cheney’s book and Jonathan Karl’s book. Liz and Adam Kinzinger were two of the few courageous Repubs to vote to impeach the Mango Mussolini. The amicus brief asking that electors from five states not be counted, due to (non-existing) fraud, was a shameful thing for Texas Repubs to do. Texas was trying to disenfranchise voters, who had voted for Biden, in those states.
