Yeah but you can always start, enter low level. Ask for advice and such. You're going to pick up a basketball or baseball and immediately play in the NBA or MLB are you? Also there are plenty of maps that aren't professional looking but still play awesomely, like the defenestration maps. Hearing your view on Blahhh, is extremely intrigueing to me. Everyone I know views abstract maps as a homely place, something that feels cozy and fun to be in. Indeed, so do I. I don't know how to explain it, but abstract maps are like the source version of theme parks. There's cool stuff to see, there's music, and most importantly, there's fun. CS:GO maps, while visually impressive, never really give me this feeling anymore. (Except of course De_Eclectic, and Nipper's other upcoming CS:GO abstract maps.) It feels like while most of the mapping community has changed from joking around to serious business, Nipper never did. And I respect him for it. Nipper is my most favorite mapper of all time, and also, bring func_vehicle back valve. Sincerely, a guy that plays Counter Strike maps in Garry's Mod.

I renember booting up cs_medridian back in 2012 maybe even earlier on Garry's Mod as a young kid making all kinds of scenes. Its almost like the earliest nostagia of the source engine. Beautiful video as always

I have a small story I can share. Back in 2005 it seemed like half of my school was playing CS. So one guy made a hostage map of our schoolbuilding. A few people played that map on a Lanparty and somehow one of the parents became aware of it being the schoolbuilding and the whole thing completely blew out of proportions. There were a bunch of sittings with parents and teachers and the guy who made the map got suspended from our school.

A moment lost to time. Watching this gave me a weird sense of nostalgia even though I didn't even start playing CS:GO until 2018.

Dude, please do more of these types of vids. Even if I can't relate with many of the experience, the nostalgia feeling is contagious. Feels so good to look bakc in time

Suburb is a classic! I recently discovered the map in GMod when on a TTT server. It's so wild to me how interesting and real that map feels

Thank you for this video! Made me reminiscence playing on a specific server. The owner made maps himself and often they were gimmicky. Some times they had similar levels of detail that I still remember. CS:S custom maps were great!

I remember having similar feelings playing custom warcraft 3 maps built by people in a small mapmaking community I used to be a part of. Granted the ideas were different and it never looked like a real place, I have the most warm feelings when I remember finding myself in a christmas easter egg in one of the maps.

There was this incredibly detailed and gigantic CS:Source map called "de_iraqhistan" which was believe it or not a remake of a C&C Generals map and it contains the maximum details possible and so many units and buildings from the game and sound effects and special effects like you could call in a bomber or a toxic bomb. You gotta check it out some time. Unfortunately the file got lost and it could not be brought to CS:GO.

Never played CS Source but man, 1.6 had so many maps I can remember for this days. That one western map with jingle from the Good, the Bad and the Ugly 😩👌

Suburbs takes me back to my gmod TTT days, taking the time to explore new maps and seeing what there was to see. What mischief you could cause...

My friends and I play the mp_sansaroom rats map in Cod4 to this day. We played GOB RATS in Cod2 as well. This started in the mid 2010s. These community maps live on longer than you'd think.

Great nod to Nipper! He was one of my favorite mappers even back in 1.6. I can't believe you brought up David Firth though lol now I'm gonna have Salad Fingers nightmares...and after all that work with my therapist, too...

We need this video for old beta and early retail maps. There were so many great random maps back then!
