So cool to see Naveen teach a game! I've really wanted to try this game for so long, so it's nice to see you cover it on the channel :)

Maquis! What a pleasant surprise! I understand it's not a very well-known game in North America, for some reason (maybe it's hard to find?). By the way, if you need a tip: always build the second safe house on the west side spare room. It gives you free access to both Radio A and the doctor. It's top priority in pretty much every scenario.

Well, I own this game. But I took it to a local printer and had it printed on cardstock. Looks just as good as Navine's copy. (Sorry if I misspelled your name brother) Except I didn't bother to print out nice graphics/art for a box cover. I think, and I may be making this up. I have only ever seen this game for sale in the wild at a lgs, one time. And I may be making that up.

And I didn't go through the trouble of making my tracker card dual density. Wouldn't be terribly hard to make though.

This game has been on my wish list for a while. And it was fun to see you doing a solo playthrough!
@BeforeYouPlay14 күн бұрын
Yeah, it’s a real gem.
@Muffin_Stuffin14 күн бұрын
Not necessarily cheap, depending on how nice you want to make it. But this game is completely free as a PNP. This is why I own it. I have no problem buying a published copy, but I only buy my games from places I can actually walk into. Even if that place is Wal Mart. I have yet to mail order a game. And if I do, it is going to be through the Publisher. I digress - you can get a copy of this game easily enough if you don't mind having to actually have to make it yourself so to speak.

Hi Naveen, small correction on the Double Agent mission. "Visiting" is an action that you take. So if you're at the Doctor, you can't mark it as visited and claim a medicine on the same turn. Makes the mission far more challenging 😅 This was confirmed by Jake Staines

Nice play through dude, I am surprised this is not a multi-player game as this would such a great game for more players based on the theme and the game mechanics.

Since you like trick-takers, you might like the solo one, For Northwood! Just in case you plan to solo something again while Monique is away. It is also on BGA for solo
@statboardgamer15 күн бұрын
I'm not really a solo gamer, but I love trick-taking and this game does a solo engine so well. I never would have believed trick-taking could be cooperative before The Crew, and I thought it was impossible that trick-taking could be singularly played before For Northwood!
@alicia146514 күн бұрын
@@statboardgamer Strangely enough, it is my first trick-taker! I have since also played Jekyll vs Hyde and Claim, and have the Fellowship of the Ring trick-taker on the way. :)

@bryanscollick830515 күн бұрын
I actually purchased this game after Monique had it on her solo list and what an underrated treasure. Simple to play, but so puzzly and thinky! Great strategic depth and you can scale the difficulty. First move should always be either Grocer or Point Levesque! (apologize for poor French spelling)

Naveen! Are you becoming a solo gamer?! 😃 I love this little game and haven't played it in ages. I'm going to be dusting it off and tabling it again tonight. Thanks for an exciting playthrough. You're a real risk taker!

Naveen, great video! I played Maquis a few times digitally and it didn't stick for me, despite liking the theme quite a bit. However, I recently got Witchcraft! and absolutely adore it. Similar in that you have different missions each time, but I felt I had more control and strategy than I did in Maquis. I'd highly recommend Witchcraft! to you and Monique if you venture deeper into these relatively quick mission-based solo games!

I believe it makes more sense to place the required resources for a mission when you assign a worker, similar to how a Fake ID or gun is given to the worker upfront, rather than acquiring resources later.
@BeforeYouPlay14 күн бұрын
Yeah, I tried to look that up but the rules say you can use resources gathered in an earlier action for another location's action. Thematically it would make more sense for the item to be with one person.
@garyfaust676915 күн бұрын
Currently my favorite solo game since picking it up at the GenCon consignment sale in new condition. I recommend using the Patrol Tracker from the BGG Maquis forum files. Then you can track where the patrols have already been as the patrol cards are used. It helps strategic decisions and remains thematic. The Maquis would be tracking the daily patrol pattern to minimize risk of capture. It is still difficult to win.

There is a chart in the rules I use

I had this one for a while. Tough tough solo game, at least for me. I ended up selling it off as I just never felt like I had much of a chance of winning haha (which could just be a skill issue on my part). But, still a high recommend to anyone looking for a new solo game, especially if they're a history fan.
